It has finally been revealed that after launching in both Japan and Asia, the long-awaited Afrika is headed to North America. There has been a little confusion during this time, but after its E3 appearance, thinks are rapidly clearing up.
First of all, even though it was initially set to be distributed by National Geographic, it somehow ended up in Natsume's hands. The new publisher hasn't been all that specific about this switch, but it's enough to know that it happened. Then, in a recent Siliconera interview with Vice President of Operations Graham Markay, we have learned that the US version will boast a few extra treats. You know, like Trophies!
"First and foremost there is going to be a trophy system, which wasn’t in the Asian release or Japanese release. There have been other suggestions from us and other parties. So, we’ve been working with Rhino Soft and Sony now to tweak it. Obviously, that’s not the final version out there so we’re trying to see what we can do to help make it a touch better."
So even though we've had to wait, the final product should be the best version available anywhere in the world, which is kinda cool. If you're not quite familiar with the game yet, you can check our in-depth preview . Really, it's right up your alley if you're into original themes in video games, and especially if you've always wanted to be a nature photographer. It's not an easy gig, as this game will likely prove. We'll let you know when they've nailed down a concrete release date, but for now, it's set to launch at some point later this year.
