In an interview after E3, Hideo Kojima said he was merely a producer for Metal Gear Solid: Rising , and further demonstrated his active involvement (writing and directing) with the "Metal Gear Solid 5 within him," Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for the PSP. But that may not be entirely accurate.
In a new interview with Japanese magazine Dengeki, Kojima has now said he will have more involvement in Rising than we all believed. "I'll be working more deeply on the project than a normal producer," is the semi-broken translation, and he added that "it's a completely different kind of action than what has appeared in the series so far." (source- PSU ) As for the latter, none of us are really surprised, considering the baseline info we have for the game, and the fact that Raiden is the main character. But to further complicate things, Kojima had initially planned to "take a backseat role" in the creation of Peace Walker , until he learned of the game's concept and 1970s Cold War theme.
"At first, I was just going to create the overall guidelines and concepts for the project, and leave it in the hands my excellent staff. I was going to have a hand in the project as a producer, and make titles other than MGS. But, I set the game in the South American [sic] country of Costa Rica and created a story with themes about nuclear deterrence and The Cold War. It looked as if it might be very confusing to young people, because of generational differences. So, in the end I finally said, 'I'll do it.'"
Clearly, he must've gotten more excited about Peace Walker as time went on, and it also appears as if he'll have more input with Rising . Many of us were worried that as producer, he would simply have his name on the game but it would be without his patented flair and panache. Maybe we don't have to worry anymore.

Great news Im quickly becoming a fan of the MGS series after 4 I went back and played 1 and am getting ready to start part 2 hopefully by the time Peace Walker and Rising come out Ill be caught up with the story.
I'm still a little worried about Rising, it sounds good but im going to hate seeing Metal Gear Solid over in the X-Box section in stores, i'ts gonna' make me sick and full of contempt. I propably wont buy it. just in spite, but i'll definately buy MGS: Peace Walker for my PSP 3001and my future PSP Go! btw, i'm writing this on my PSP. Long live Kojima and MGS.

That's a very strange way of supporting a franchise you like… I hope you don't have Metal Gear Solid 2… that was on the Xbox as well. Myself I'm supper excited that he's getting more involved… we all know he can't keep his fingers out of the cookie dough bowl
i just wish peacewalker was gonna be on ps3 instead 🙁 i love big boss!
They probably made it PSP exclusive so they could keep it with Sony and not see it go multiplatform.
or as a way to get PSPGo's off the shelf…if it;s digital download only
it wont be. Sony already said they are going to support both Digital and UMD formats.
its a LIE
hes just doin this so fans dont piss on this multiplat MGS
im not buying this.
I really don't think he's working on it neither. He says this to keep up his image probably.
Agreed!
That was the first thing which came to mind
I think Konami might have noticed the backlash and made Kojima say this to calm owners of that other console.
Either way no stealth is something which I still can't grasp 'bout this game.
This is a good thing. Rising should be a good game. Ok it's multi–platform, and? It's not like MGS4 went multi-plat is it?
No, I think this is a good thing. It will add to the quality of the game, even if he's simply overseeing things (as a producer should) it will still raise the bar on the quality of the game.

Well its still a huge tur@n from his usual affairs though the action in his "zone of the enders" series had an amazing flair (sounds like many have forgotten he technically done action before) and maybe that skill may transcend well into this new medium known as "rising".
I just really wish he would go back to Zone of Enders. I mean, come on. He made two of them. At least finish it off with a next-gen game to complete the trilogy. I'm pretty sure having hundreds (thousands?) of targetable HD enemies on one screen is only possible on the PS3.
Can't Kojima be straight forward FOR ONCE!
First you said "Okay no MGS for me again,MGS4 is the last" now look we have Rising.
Second "I won't be fully involved in Rising" now your mind turned states again, you're getting involved.
What's next?
Hmmm. Perhaps "I like the 360 better" or "MGS sucks and I really don't want to make it anymore" oooorrr the wild "I did not have sexual relations with that snake"
That's what happens when your bosses realize you're a cash cow
I think it might be good….I mean really good consider the fact that raidens flamboyance won't go to wild considering he's an mgs character, add to that kojima's action series "zone of the enders" was and is an amazing sucess, then take into account tha he is still one of the single most creative minds in gaming. These things all add up to a game he would not let fail and to be honest when has he ever? In all his time as the vangaurd for mgs he has produced titles with innovation and great stories, and I for one now believe he's isn't going to dissapoint us all of a sudden just to spread his influence to the xbox 360, he's a perfectionist its what he does and what he's been made to do. You should all have more faith in him personally I want to know what ben and arnold think being they are the voices of reason lol.
It seems like someone got called into his boss' office and told he's not a team player, probably right after his boss received an irate call from M$ft annoyed that Kojima was pissing all over this M$ft coup by letting everyone know he was barely invloved with the game.
It's called spin control folks!
We all know how much Kojima dislikes MSft. Hell, he takes shots at them in most of his games.
True, true
For example?

for example:
the codec scene in mgs4 where it makes reference to how next gen the blu-ray drive and how that was the point in the game where if it wasn't for the blu-ray drive, you would have needed to change discs. take it however you want, but I call that poking a shot at Microsoft…
javon, that part was a direct jab at MS, no doubt about it, no need to take it any other way.

I wonder if Kojima works on the game how many disc are 360 owners going to get.
Kojima: 1 trick pony.
and i knew he was all for Rising, as i previously said.
he didnt say he was "all for Rising" as you put.
One trick pony? You do know he has worked on games besides Metal Gear right?
lol snatcher (blade runner rip off) and i hadn't played the others and im not including penguin adventure!
Since then he's been stuck on MGS and sat as producer on other people's projects like ZOE.
He cant get out of MGS.
Um…ZOE was his project, and it was a great one at that.
i just hope he can find away to make this work without gimping the game for the 360s sake.
screw the 360
So he got cold feet. Can't hand over control to his 'excellent team' and walk away. He's too hands on for that. Should have seen this coming.
Either way still not interested in this game.
It'll probably be a good/great game.
But I'm just gonna stick with South America and all its flavor!
It's a waste putting peace walker on psp!
Imagine it on ps3!
AH!!! Alright then…now I have more confidence in Rising. Great…I'm almost as excited for Rising am I with Peace Walker. I'm mainly more excited for Peace Walker. I'm more excited for Peace walker since it's about the story of Big Boss and his creation: Outer Haven/Heaven, it's basically where MGS all began if you think about it, and it's on PSP – I frankly loved MGS Portable Ops…hell I'm playing it right now!!! . YAY!!!
im glad Metal Gear Solid is still alive. i honestly thought after the epic ending of MGS4 that i had seen the last of the Metal Gear franchise to be made with the involvement of kojima. Not so sure about Rising though, looks to me like its going to shake off the traditional "Stealth/Action" genre, and go all out action (because rumours say the tagline is going to change from "Tactical Espionage Action" to "Lightning Bolt Action".
And I love the way everyone here thinks kojima is schemeing or has his hands tied so that konami can keep its rep lol. People change their mind you know!
Ya know what would be excellent? If MGS Rising was just another one of Kojima's tricks. Maybe it's not Raiden, maybe it is Fox. Knowing him, he would create almost an entire game just for a diversion. Poor guy, he's been trying to quit doing Metal Gear since MGS2.
lol yeah…
He should get the f*ck out of MGS already
While any project overseen by Kojima will be Gold, I have to agree with the early posters, ALWAYS go with the initial response and not what comes after. At the MS conference he looked like he wanted to be anywhere but that place. He says he won't have much involvement, they made him spin it because even 360 fans know he's legendary and Konami won't settle for them being given chopped liver because they are too damn loud.
Agreed!
I really hope that half way through creating the game he cancles the 360 version and says "it is just not possible for the xbox, so it's ps3 exclusive" highly unlikely but hey, it would be nice, some one should really see about creating a petition to get the 360 version of metal gear cancled 😛 I'll see what I can do 😛
lulz would ensue, that's for sure!
Good to know.. I'm on ACT 3 on MGS4 atm (first playthrough) and I'm loving every moment of it..Kojima is a genius…
I know its a year overdue but rather late than never aye?
Okay, seriously: If God of War was made into a *stealth* game, would you really be able to call it God of War? An all out action title wouldn't *feel* like Metal Gear Solid.
If you ever played Thief you'd know what a real stealth game is like…
I'm interested in both, but more so in Peace Walker. Rising going to 360 was shocking and disappointing at first, but now I'm used to it and am over it. I just need a PSP for Peace Walker.
This game will be fun (c'mon, cyborg ninja game developed by Konami). Probably not as epic as Snake's adventure.
I would have preferred Zone of The Enders 3 instead but yeah ^_^
P.S.
*Jehuty.. Jehuty.. target Bravo*
No ZOE3 = 🙁
For gods sake people! Some of you on here just aren't willing to appreciate the game, for the SOLE fact that it's on the 360.
Heck, it may not be as good if it's multi plat compared to mgs4, but with this news that Kojima is actually working more closely than we thought, surely people would be more interested, as he is't going to make a game that he isn't happy with.
We've gone through the news that an MGS is coming on the 360, now get over it and try to look for the positives of it. If you aren't excited about it, then fine, but don't blame it on the fact that it's on the 360, they can have good games aswell!
rant over!
