Final Fantasy Tactics Set For US PSN?

Okay, so Final Fantasy VII may be the biggest recent release to hit the PlayStation Store in digital download form, but yet another title from that legendary franchise may soon be headed to the PSN…

As you can see by this ESRB listing , it's Final Fantasy Tactics . Typically, when a game pops up on the ESRB radar – especially one that's over a decade old – it means it will enjoy a re-release of sorts on the Network or Xbox Live Marketplace. We believe FFT is already on the Japanese Store, but we can't be sure… Anyway, for those of you who are unfamiliar, FFT is a strategy/RPG that utilized the now-archaic turn-based mechanic, but is arguably the most accomplished title of its kind. Featuring the Job class system that allowed for almost infinite possibilities and a fantastic storyline (despite an occasionally wonky translation), FFT is a favorite amongst old-school strat/RPG fans, and it will make for an excellent addition to the PS1 downloadable classic collection on the PSN. Perhaps it won't be long before all of Squaresoft's gems will be available; you know Final Fantasy VIII , Final Fantasy IX , Vagrant Story , Chrono Cross , Xenogears, Legend of Mana , Brave Fencer Musashi , Threads of Fate , etc. It would give modern gamers the chance to see a very different Square (from a time when it could do no wrong), and give veteran gamers the chance to reminisce. Yep, Squaresoft really was that good in the late '90s.

For my part, I think most all loyal PSXE readers are aware of my love of FFT. Hence, if any of you don't currently own the game and also opt to pass on a downloadable version, I will find you and do bad things. …you can save us both a lot of time and unnecessary pain if you simply do the right thing…
