If you've been waiting on a PlayStation 3 purchase, it's likely that all you need is the proper incentive. And if you don't want to wait for that price drop any longer, perhaps a nice movie/game bundle will make you take the plunge.
According to UK site Electronic Theatre , the newest bundle features the 80GB PS3, a Blu-Ray copy of "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" and the game, Terminator: Salvation , and it'll go on sale on June 26 with a price tag of £309.99. Obviously, as this is a European source, we have to assume that this package will only be available in that region; we've seen several region-specific bundles this generation already. But then again, we doubt there are a gazillion gamers in this country who will spring instantly upon this deal, as we've heard not-so-encouraging comments regarding the game in question. The movie may be better and for die-hard fans of the series, this package is just something else you may wish to add to your collection. And perhaps "Terminator" is just super-huge over there in Europe; maybe all you guys are just Terminator-crazy and will watch – and play – anything with that name in the title. For our part, we just want to see a price drop, and we'd like to believe the latest "industry sources," which say the $100 price cut for the PS3 will come in August.
But anyway, this Terminator PS3 bundle should save you some cash, so if you liked the movie and don't have the machine in question, it could be a decent option.
Related Game(s): Terminator: Salvation
I see that it is an 80GB system. I wonder if it has the emulator? I also do not understand why they don't add the bluray remote with the movie. I think that would help a bit too. It is only $20, but free is always better.
This is not a very good bundle. They add a great movie and top it with one of the worst games this year.If they had just made the bundle with the Terminator trilogy it would sell a lot better.
Even just T1 and T2. i would buy that. not this one though. Sony needs to make some better bundles. Seems all the good bundles are always outside the US. what was the last good bundle that was released in the US? Sony should think about a Final Fantasy XIII bundle or maybe a GT5 bundle.

I never watch T3, and I am not going to watch TS, because to me personally, Terminator ended with T2.
T3 was worth watching for the action but otherwise was pretty lame. TS did a better job by getting rid of the cheesy comedy relief and did alot better with the action but it still falls short to T1 and T2 standards. I would say watch them, but dont expect too much. As for this bundle, i wouldnt by this. The game looked interesting, but the IGN review completely shatterd any hope i had for this game. Most of the time, Movie to Game games arent very good. This was no exception. The Campaign is only 4 hours long..Seriously?
Amazon is selling the 80 gig for $349 (a $50 savings), but I think that may be for the US only. Just thought I'd mention just in case…
I completely agree with you guys. I'm not sure why they would create a bundle with such a crappy game.
Someone in Europe can use it as long as their screen uses an HDMI hookup, PS3 is region free.
The backwards compatibility though is another story, A US PS3 with PS2 backwards compatibility is, with regard to PS2 games, region locked.
The same is true of DVD playback – as far as I know, although now I think about it… Tonight I have to try a UK DVD in my US PS3, with a user profile that has the UK as their country of residence….
PS3 isn't 100% region free. My friend got one from China before it came out in Europe and he couldn't play Resistance online. So he sold it on Ebay and got a European one.
Anything other than online is region free though. 🙂
Online on PS3 is region free – unless the game enforces some 'regionality' itself. Some games force you to only play with other players from your region in order to reduce the impact of the network delays in getting a data packet from a PS3 in Japan to one in the UK (for example). Several games have done this, it's based on the location in the user profile that you are playing under. This isn't region locking, it's an attempt to prevent network lag being a big issue for players.
You can fool this by simply setting up a profile that has it's location in the region you desire, and your game will play as if it's in that region. However since the network transit time for data packets will be fairly long, you will experience poor response when playing online.
I got one of those ad papers from walmart yesterday that there is a bundle here also in the states(I'm in AZ) of the 80g ps3 MLB the show 09 and quantum of solace movie for $399 bones
You know, these bundles bug me. Sony should just sell a core system with no bundled games or movies for $299. If you discount the cost of the game and movie at retail, that $399 tag comes down to $309. Why not just sell the 80GB system on it's own with a controller for $299? I'm certain it would catch a few more consumer's eyes.
Sony loses less money by keeping the same PS3 price and simply taking a hit on an in house title or a rather old movie.
Yes, I know, but whether it's a virtual $90 loss (retail price) or an internal cost/loss ($50?), I still think they would be better off putting a core system on the shelf without pack-ins for a lower price.
Hmm…the only part of this bundle that's sort of good/ok is the blu ray copy of Terminator 3. Other than that I don't give a fu** about Terminator Salvation THE GAME – wasn't that TERRIBLE?!
But anyway. Terminator 3 was a pretty good movie since it had Schwarzenegger! Other than that…if it doesn't have James Cameron directing it…oh boy not at all.
Cameron's Avatar looks promising…
T3 sucked balls and Terminator Salvation was pretty to look at and had sweet action scenes, that is all.
Avatar will be amazing, JC only screwed me over twice in his life, Titanic and Aliens.

they need to sell that crappy game somehow…besides the new movie Salvation really sucked…
The most boring bundle i ever heard…
Meh, an alright bundle in my opinion.
No, people in Europe aren't any more fascinated by Terminator than the U.S. crowd, so I don't really see this thing selling so well. I wouldn't buy it, that's for sure.
Weak movie, Weaker game.
@ Highlander,
I agree with you, if they can discount the PS3 by bundling it, then why not just bare-bones the PS3 for cheaper?
OK, on another note since I'm not the slightest bit tech-worthy, I understand(slightly) Sony doing bundle concepts, but what I don't understand is why they can't do the same bundles for everywhere, just not doing them "region specific".
It just sounds crazy to me that they do 1 bundle for 1 area, and different for a different area. It just seems like Sony is losing out on a whole lot of extra sales & profit this way. I mean, WTF?
All Sony has to do is make sure each game/movie bundle is coded correctly to the machine for the right continents, right?.
And they even did the white PS3 the same way, why not sell white ones(and other colors like the PSP) to everybody, and not just to Japan?
