DICE Working On Battlefield 3

Okay, so you know about Battlefield: Bad Company (and the sequel scheduled for this year), Battlefield: Heroes and Battlefield 1943 . But did you know there was another entry in the series…?

According to G4TV , EA COO John Pleasants spoke about Battlefield 3 , which is currently in development at Swedish developer DICE. If you aren't familiar, DICE is also responsible for last year's excellent Mirror's Edge , and they're currently closing in on completing Battlefield: Bad Company 2 . Said Pleasants:

"I've had the luxury of looking at Battlefield 3 over at DICE in Sweden and was highly impressed by the way the team is working on that product. Of course, that's not [coming out] in the fiscal year, but that is a product that is looking very good."

This is one of those franchises that shouldn't go overlooked, despite the heavy competition it typically faces. There's little doubt that Bad Company 2 will be a definite winner – who didn't have fun with the original? Seriously? – and DICE is proving themselves to be a fully competent designer. Of course, this means we have to keep checking around for any new information that might leak out concerning Battlefield 3 , but we figure we can add another promising title to our ever-expanding radar.

Cool, loved the 1st BF:BC, getting the second one as soon as all my heavy hitters this year, I have acquired.

DICE is one of those developers that's just quiet, doesn't say anything unnecessary to anyone, and just makes great games, getting profit as a bonus =D, and I respect them for that.

Dice and other developers with talent as such should focus on more original properties…look at Infamous and Team Ico's project(forgot the name)for starters and take chances that could reward them in many ways…at least they don't outright shun the PS3 like a certain developer

My PC is waiting for what will surely be an amazing game. BF2 was addictive, nothing like riding in the back of a helicopter with half a dozen other people while your friend is flying it over enemy territory. I'm looking forward to MAG as well, if it gives me half as much joy as BF2 gave me I'll be content.

Battlefield Bad Company was defintely a breath of fresh air for FPS. The story and comedy that Dice put in the game was awesome.

The graphics and gun sounds were some of the best around. They just need to put more stuff on the screen at the same time like Killzone 2.

The Battlefield series is one of the best, but I doubt that Battlefield 3 will be released on anything other than the PC.

For me, I'm really looking forward to BF1943. BF1942 sucked more hours out of my soul than I care to admit… and here's hoping that BF1943 will do the same. That is if my wife allows it 🙂

With all these FPS on the consoles, and with my first purchase of a console since sega genesis being the PS3, does anyone know of any cool keyboard mouse combos that work for games on the PS3? I'm an old school pc FPS'er.

Not sure. But I've heard that Unreal Tournament 3 supports keyboard and mouse config. I think its the only game though. Not sure either whether there's much online play, but it does have bots.

Insert RPG and I would be happy 🙁

The only RPGs ive ever really cared for were Final Fantasy and DragonQuest. SquareEnix has been hiding in the shadows for some time. Also they havent put out a "great" Final Fantasy since X. Im replaying VII right now. Its never going to get better then that game. Even with the dated graphics and the battle system, i still consider it the greatest Final Fantasy(or RPG at that)of all time.

FF7 looks great on the PSP, I'm also playing that.

BTW I loved FF12, I really have found no fault in any FF except FF11.

You should check out Valkyria Chronicles for the PS3, it's a splendid game.

FFVII does look great on the PSP. Shame the screen can't be fitted correctly though.

FFXII was good. But it was the 1st FF I only played once. I invested 180 hours into to it and lost interest in it before getting everything. I usuay hunt for all the ultimate weapons spells armor, max all the character levels out etc.. But FFXII I didn't.

I played the Valkriya Chron demo. I didn't dig it. Should I trust the demo?

Honestly you should just stick to the true Battlefield games, IMO so far there have been only 2, BF1 and BF2. Play those to get a true impression of what BF3 will be like.

I had no idea there was a difference. I'll check em out.
