At this point, you may as well get up a list of the most successful rock bands and guess…"hmm, which one will have their own Rock Band or Guitar Hero game?" I mean, this new phenomenon could go on forever .
You all know that The Beatles: Rock Band is on the way, but Harmonix is already looking down the road for its next star, and it appears they've settled on alternative rock gurus, Green Day. According to Kotaku , the band basically confirmed as much on KROQ 106.7 FM yesterday morning. An audience member asked the band if they'd be contributing any of their songs to Rock Band , and lead singer Billy Joe replied simply, "Uh yeah, we're doing a whole Green Day Rock Band." We don't know if this is a track pack or an entirely new game all their own, but Billy Joe must've been reluctant to talk about it because the only other information he'd give is a vague release date: "I'm not sure…soon. Like I think not this week, but this year soon…by the end of this year." As Kotaku noted, it is a little bizarre that none of Green Day's songs have found their way into a Rock Band iteration yet, so perhaps they've been saving them all for one big ol' game dedicated to the band. Of course, if it's not until later this year, we may not have confirmation one way or the other for a while. But we'll keep our eyes open.
So, who else would you want to see get their own Rock Band ? There are hundreds of amazing rock bands that might deserve such recognition, and at this point, it seems like any one of them has a legitimate shot.
Enough with the rockband please. Why can't their just be downloadable content? You don't have to give every band their own game. I know their trying to make money but come on.

I cant stand Green Day. Or punk for that matter. Some punk is fine, like I can listen to Anarchy in the UK, but only if I listen to the Motley Crue or Megadeth versions. I guess Im just too much of a metal head!
Green Day are not punk. They're rock. They sing about girls. Not what the punk movement was about. Look to bands like Crass and Bad Religion for punk. 😉

I don't understand how the first Rockband ever made money. I'm sticking by my opinion that this type of game is for casual gamers. I'll gladly take a mediocre RPG over any of this crap.

K, I am not a casual gamer. I have been gaming for over 25 years. I have had all of the consoles except for the 360, and still have most of them still. Your assumption is like stating that "All FPS players are 13 year old @ssholes!" This is just not true.
I like Rockband because it gets my friends together for a great time, and you feel great doing it.
Playing a track you jammed with for years even though you have no musical talent is fun. Deal with it.
I feel stoked when I rock through a Stevie Ray Von track and get 100% on the solo.
Gaming is about fun and pleasure, rockband gives me both.
I think The beatles deserve thier own game and it was the only way to get them in anyway. Greenday, yeah this should be DLC…
The game is fun, and it is nowhere near as cheesy as GH graphically. I like it and you should not assume someone is a casual gamer for enjouying a genre you do not care for.

i'm a gamer as well, not a casual one. i haven't been gaming for 25 years though cause i'm not that old, lol. but i've been playing games since i was like 5 or 6. i used to play my brothers sega genisis. i've been playing games ever since then.
now i would only be a casual gamer if i only played RB or if i had only a nintendo wii and had RB with it
i would not take a mediocre rpg over RB because i don't like playing mediocre games
maybe that's the reason why i have always gone with playstation brand
because they always haves great games!

I could not agree more about GH. I really liked them until RB came out ,and now they are just so cartoony and cheesy that I can not play them. Plus the teeth on the characters scare my kid… He has actually had nightmares about them.
Bah, I don't like Green Day. Give me Iron Maiden, ZZ Top and/or Motorhead with their own games, and I'll be happy.
You already have those groups in your current game, heck we just got 12 Iron Maiden tracks.
Why not just make it a downloadable content?

I understand the licensing reasons behind The Beatles Rock Band, but anything else should just be DLC or on RB3, if they ever come out with it. Even if it wasn't for the licensing, The Beatles deserve their own game. Don't get me wrong, I have no huge complaints against Green Day, just that they're nowhere near The Beatles.
After Guitar Hero III, I gave on the whole band genre or what ever you want to call it. I just think its gone too far. It was great when its started but now it just seems more of a battle between Rock Band and Guitar Hero franchise.
Harmonix claims: "We innovate, then perfect." So when are we going to see innovation again? In case you didn't know: Harmonix created Guitar Hero, refined the formula, then created Rock Band, again they refined the formula. So there's no more room for innovation or what?
Releasing new band-themed Rock Band games is not innovation or perfection.

RB Rob/White Zombie would also be awesome and have a lot more potential than any generic punk rock band.
Of course I'd want most of who I listen to but those two are actually commercially viable.
I've never liked to right out insult anything at all but, Green Gay? That's just…over my limit, less they compensate with something really awesome like an Iron Maiden game I shall never buy RB in my life.
