For those who enjoy the Rally racing experience, Dirt quickly became a huge hit and a highly sough-after title. Not surprisingly, Codemasters is hard at work on a sequel.
According to PSU , the developers have confirmed that we can expect a playable demo to hit the PlayStation Network this September, and as another little treat, PlayStation 3 owners will get the bonus of an awesome new screen capture feature! This will be added in an upcoming firmware update and we believe this is an exclusive option for the PS3 version, which is good news for Rally fans and owners of Sony's console. Of course, Gran Turismo 5 will feature its own Rally portion but we fully expect Codemasters to really push the envelope with Dirt 2 . The tragic death of Colin McRae hasn't stopped them; they believe it's better to honor his name by continuing the tradition of top-quality off-road simulators, and we wholeheartedly agree. We do expect more media to come our way over the next few months, and we can pretty much guarantee that when this sequel arrives, it'll be a definite winner.
Just remember: the off-road racing genre has really blown up over the past few years, so there will be plenty of competition!

Maybe he meant 2.80. It could be a typo.
Heck, I'm still waiting for Dirt 1 to go down in price.
Yeah, not sure. Let's just call it an "upcoming firmware update."
I can already do screen capturing on PS3. Midnight Club L.A. is a good example.
Nice, Codemasters always makes a fantastic Rally racer.
Of course they were also responsible for the TOCA touring car racing series of games in Europe as well – which rocked. With the exception of Polyphony Digital, Codemasters is right at the top when it comes to racers.
Nice to see the screen capture feature finally making it into a game.
is it just me, or does not only gran turismo 5, but also this game make forza 3 look like a cartoony cart racer??

Ya I saw a three screen forza 3 demo and that game is NO WHERE near as real looking as GT5 prologue and gonna be owned when the final version of GT5 comes out. If you've played prologue, I heard that the finished version is even gonna look better yet. GT5 is gonna be the best simulator bar none!!
Another funny thing I heard was that Forza 3 is only again gonna support 8 people online again like FM2. Poor Xbox live can only handle 8 with that game as it uses shared server architecture. GT5 is gonna support 16 as it does now in prologue (even tho the online sucks in prologue mainly because of it just being thrown in as a feature in the demo). I'm sure the final version will run amazing like only Sony exclusives always run.
As for Forza 3 cartoony environments and cars is once again what I saw, yet Dan Greenwalt of Turn 10 boasts that his racer is gonna be leading this generation in graphics and physics. HA. Nice try Dan, not even close…The 360 is pretty hard to push much further for any developer even tho FM3 does look better than 2, but no where near the quality and brilliance of GT5

It should be a fantastic game, with the Ego 3 engine in full swing!
Q!
"i am home"
Always wanted to get their games back in the ps2 days…
Played the firs demo for Dirt and didn't really like it…felt too "strict" or like it wanted to be a road game mixed with rally…….which is fine but eeeeeh just didn't like it.
Too bad that Sega ain't doing Sega Rally Revolution anymore…I have the first one and it's pretty fun.
Motorstorm takes the crown! Yes it's Arcade-ish but it still has enough realism(physics) that it delivers everything a rally game fan wants.
I'll see if I can this one though.
You know what I'd kill for?…a real Rally Cross(Sony's old rally franchise…) That one was ******* fun! damn
Yeah Rally Cross was so fun, i loved that game.
Okay, I gotta ask. Does anyone actually use screen capture and video editing features? Is it that much of a game selling option? I've got games with these options, but I never bother with them. Is there really that many people out there that are taking pictures of their racing and posting it online for their friends to look at? Posting Results I can see, because you want to brag about how good you are..but posting a picture of you doing something in a game? Really?
Sure it's a neat gimmick, but how many people use it? Except for Game Journalists….
I would use it
Could make for some really memorable wallpapers
And for those who like printing out their own bedroom wallpapers and such.
It's never bad to have extra goodies such as screen capture.
In fact, wish more games had stuff like this. MGS4 for example……man I'd love that!
Loved the first game, and all other Colin McRae titles, so this one is a first-day purchase.
😉
they should go back to the handling of 2005
Also no offense to anyone but it should be a scot called Nicky Grist calling the notes always..not an american.
Nicky Grist is Welsh.
You may be thinking of Derek Ringer who used to be Colin's Scottish co-driver.

GT4 did this also giving you the ability to
save as a screen saver.
