It's unlikely you're growing tired of the unbelievable experience that is Killzone 2 online, but just in case, more downloadable content is headed your way.
Well, the press release comes from SCEE so perhaps it's only confirmed for Europe right now, but we're assuming this Flash and Thunder Map Pack will also hit North America as well. It is scheduled to become available on the PlayStation Store in Europe on June 11, and it's going to feature the Beach Head and Southern Hills maps from the original Killzone (obviously remade for the PS3). It's kinda interesting, actually: we all know the first title fell a little shy of expectations, but KZ2 most certainly didn't. Now it's time to see a bit of the original game, remade for the excellence of the sequel. Here's part of the press release:
"The Beach Head map sees the ISA tasked with defending a coastal stronghold against a Helghast landing force. This rain-lashed and windswept battlefield is limited in size – which means more action, more hand-to-hand combat, plenty of sneaking up on the enemy and melee kills galore. The Southern Hills map sees the ISA attempting to storm a Helghast compound on top of a hill. A mixture of built-up terrain and wide open spaces – perfect for headshot sniper kills – this map is full of hiding places and offers the perfect battlefield for a large-scale game with lots of players."
This generation, developers can continue to refresh multiplayer experiences on a frequent basis, and it appears to be working (just look at Criterion and Burnout Paradise ). So, there's nothing wrong with seeing more content for one of the best games of the past few years. We'll let you know if the Flash and Thunder Map Pack is confirmed for the US as well.

Those were two of my favorite maps, the beachhead was my favorite, hopefully they add that snowy mountain one, cant think of the name, I would have liked to see it this time around but if they get to it that would be great. I'll probably spend the 5.99 on this pack too, I liked the last one.
the Wasteland Bullet map is a great display of technological advancements…that map is a joy to stare at…..
Lookin forward to this one…..i just wish the search feature gets a facelift, it was hard to find rooms with the new maps

I agree if they update the search feature and add more info about the matches, playlist etc, and then allow all the maps to be in cycle at the same time the online would be a lot better but I can wait a little longer.
SWEET!
I vaguely remember the multiplayer maps on Killzone 1, so I'm intrigued by the idea of remade maps. I love Killzone. And as long as Guerilla keeps this up, I may not play another shooter till Modern Warfare 2.
I never even played KZ1 but I know the fans were asking for some old maps redone so big kudos to Guerilla for listening.
I agree. They've done a lot for the fans already.
Yeah! I`ll most likely buy the map-pack day one it`s realesed. But I kinda hoped they would make some really colourful maps this time. Here`s hoping they will in the furthur:)
Oh, I REALLY hope they make some new weapons to:P A new sniper, shotgun and a sub-machine gun would be really nice:P
Ive never been able to play a match against anyone on the last maps I bought – the train and cruiser levels. Noone started any games on it on the AUS servers so I havent been able to play them other than with bots, which isnt as fun.
So I'll pass but watch with interest if these are good maps.
Perhaps enabling custom soundtracks throughout gameplay would encourage dusting off the disc
I love everything GG has done for KZ2, but isnt map packs getting old enough already?! For every game that comes out, all they know how to do is give out map packs! I expected something better for a second DLC from GG! Give us some real sh*t to get hype about!!!
Beachhead is my fave map 🙂
We need a party system update with this patch! be easier!
GG has already said that they are working on the party system. I'm thinking it will come out with this pack because on the PSB they said that a big update would be coming also but they didn't release the details.
Nice, I finally got the chance to beat KZ2 single player over the past weekend and now I'm going to start playing online. I started playing the original KZ just for kicks just to see how far the game has come and is going towards.
