Ninja Gaiden III For “Both Audiences”

The Ninja Gaiden saga has been an interesting one this generation. The original was exclusive to the Xbox, but Tecmo made a remake/port in the form of Ninja Gaiden Sigma for the PlayStation 3. Then, Ninja Gaiden II came out – exclusive to the Xbox 360 – and we recently heard that Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is on the way to the PS3.

So why not just stop all this and make the next installment a multiplatform simultaneous release? Well, that appears to be Tecmo's intention: according to a recent Kikizo interview with the boss of Team Ninja, Yosuke Hayashi, Ninja Gaiden 3 is "better off" being an entirely new game for "both audiences." Even though Tomonobu Itagaki had said NGII would be the final installment in the series, Hayashi says otherwise. As he stated in the interview:

"What the gamers are looking for is going to be the next chapter – the future of an outstanding series. We feel that we're in a position of being able to make that call… That calling is already there – we feel it."

Also, he confirmed that Sigma 2 would indeed remain exclusive to the PS3 (there are no plans to release an upgrade via XBLA for NGII). And to essentially confirm a multiplatform NGIII, Hayashi said, "we're going to have to push ourselves to the next level, and we are better off giving both audiences an entirely new game." This is probably the best way to approach things; the other way gave PS3 owners the better versions, but they had to wait a while. This is just…easier.

Yay for that! It's about time Ninja Gaiden goes multi-platform immediately. I don't know what the game will be like sans Itagaki but I'm sure it will be a formidable game nonetheless.

If the game still had Itagaki it'd be PS3-less lol So maybe it's better hes gone? But it might be like MGS without Kojima =

Personally, I think NG needs a fresh mind behind it. Itagaki was an egotistical nut who felt everything he touched turned to gold. Even if it was a garbage effort at best. Hopefully Team Ninja feels they actually have to put some effort into the future installments. Unlike that overrated hack Itagaki!

Maybe I might be a totally old time gamer, but there will never be a better Ninja Gaiden like the NES unless they remake it… all the Xbox Ninja Gaiden and even Sigma SUCK.. graphics might be update or what ever butn NINJA GAINDEN I even II are the best. Just like Shinobi when they transported to the 3D worst Mistake…. Bring the classics kind of Like BIONIC COMMANDO RE-ARM.. NOW THATS A REMAKE…

Oh My God!

An attack of common sense!? If you're going to make a game for both the 360 and PS3, why not make the game once instead of dowing two versions? Holy cow! Give these guys a prize for working it out.

</sarcasm>

They'll find their lives a whole lot easier if they use the PS3 as the lead platform for this as well.

Maybe they made an exclusivity deal with MS, then circumvented it to make more money by changing the title and rehashing the game for PS3?

Well even though I have already played NGII on the 360 and got my achievements. I'll most def support these guys and get it for the PS3. Now I can trophy whore it lol

Now all we need is EA and BioWare giving PS3 owners Mass Effect 2 and we are set. But of course that's a discussion for another day : )

I'm going to be honest if the lead platafform gonna be the XBOX 360 I prefer to wait and have Ninja Gaiden Sigma 3.

NG is too damn difficult for me, tries my patience. Id rather have a 15 minute fail fest on the old NES version then quit.

Maybe Itagaki meant to say that NGII would be the final installment in the series that would be impossible to play.

Itagaki-san was a jerk. I'm glad they fired him.

I do love the Ninja Gaiden series. I'm really looking forward to Sigma II.

I'm glad Hayashi has a good head on his shoulders, unlike his predecessor. He was in charge of Sigma, which came out to be a much, much better version of the game. I look forward to seeing a game he has complete and full control over.

Still haven't gotten around to playing the 2nd one. The 1st one is one of the few games that I'm proud to say that I can beat on Very Hard. Took a whole summer, but worth every non-girlfriend minute. *sob*

This is what happens when you get a 360 fanboy out of your company. Itagaki pissed me off when he flat out said Tekken sucks. It's okay if someone doesn't like Tekken, but to say it sucks with no explanation is childish. Especially when he used to say Tekken was his favorite series. Hopefully we get DOA5 as well, I haven't enjoyed it since DOA2. DOA 3 & 4 were virtually the same. DOA needs an overhaul that isn't just flashier visuals; it needs depth and some changes to its style.

I honestly don't take DOE seriously as a fighter, just a boob-fest =) but then again me being immature, I don't mind that what so ever 😉

Who's everybody? I think Ninja Gaiden is awesome. Granted, I never played the originals so I can't fully understand where you're coming from. I guess you are just an old schooler (I don't mean that offensively), and maybe you should give NG games another chance. I mean there are folks who come from a different gaming era and I understand that, but NG is far from being SUCK IMO. It reminds me of the guys who still play Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, and say Alpha and even SF4 suck. I think they're just old and more depth scares them. I don't see how balance, depth, challenge, and great graphics are a bad thing. I remember my older brother says simply he can't keep up with Street Fighter now, the supers and all that are too much for him. Kind of weak if you ask me. =/

But yeah, I can't really speak for Ninja Gaiden on NES cause' I never played them. Mind telling me what the latest games are lacking?
