Despite what some may think, Resistance 2 is one of the best multiplayer titles available – have we forgotten about those insane 60-player matches already? – and Insomniac continues to work to make the experience even better.
Thanks to this topic over at the Resistance.net forums, we now have the information for patch 1.60, which should be available today. As you can see, this update repairs a bunch of issues and provides us with more enhancements; for instance, the "Ring of Life" Berserk energy is now depleted upon activation, and access to the Allies menu has been fixed. They've also re-game time to the ticker, you can now earn a "Field Medic" ribbon by healing the other splitscreen player, and perhaps best of all, "any XP and Gray Tech earned in offline cooperative games will be retained when the player goes online (this will help address any stats issues some of you experienced after the release of the previous patch)." Oh, and they have updated one interesting feature; the ability to launch a multiplayer game within PlayStation Home. While this patch does add that capability, there are few internal issues that need to be resolved before you'll be able to do this. However, this should become available as an option by "next month."
If you haven't already played R2 online, you're definitely missing out. It's one of the most intense and enjoyable experiences you can ever have with up to 59 other people at once.
Related Game(s): Resistance 2
Resistance 2 is still a great game in my opinion, it just got overshadowed by Killzone 2.
Insomniac would be wise to continue to pump out updates and actively listen to their community because we all know that come November 10th, when Modern Warfare 2 comes out, the online community of this game will be as good as gone.
Gone? Hardly. The game has a huge fanbase. It wont be gone just because of Modern Warfare 2. There will still be players, and you and I know it.
Companies that listen to their fans are the best.
you are so right.
i hate it when companies dont listen to their fans, especially Guerilla Games on how they wont listen to us and add coop.
GG listens to you, but do you listen to them? They have stated several times that Coop doesnt fit the game. Their setup just doesnt allow it.
I've never seen any Developer so close to its fans than GG. Seb posts on the PS3 forums all the time and is always listening and bouncing ideas off people.
Updates=good. I still prefer the Resistance universe over the Halo one. Every time I go back and play it I always think "Huh I don't remember the graphics being this great last time" I hope they start work on R3, after that cliffhanger ending I wanna see where it goes. And they better release it at a proper time this time. Wow I'm rambling, I better download this patch.
Insomniac still hasn't addressed the fact that there's a THREE class system and only TWO people can play offline together at once. They're better at math than that. Why can't they just make it 4-player split-screen?
…
Because it looks retarded.
My friends and I play Halo 4-player split screen all the time. The screen for each person may be smaller, but I've learned to deal. It sure beats not having R2 as an option to play with when 3 or more of us want to play video games.
Besides that, it's just not exactly possible to have offline coop with 2 people. All 3 classes are necessary.
I play Resistance 2 regularly, I mean A LOT.
Nearly got the Platinum (1500 Competitive kills to go) and I am soooo happy with this patch.
There's the real & proper regame option (think) and fix to Allies menu.
Everyone over in the Resistance forums including me have been dieing for a fix 😉
Insomniac rules.
