NIS America has announced their PlayStation 3 RPG, much to the delight of JRPG fans everywhere.
It's Last Rebellion , which is a "joint project between Nippon Ichi Software and HitMaker." This is probably best labeled as an action/RPG, as players will be able to execute normal action movements when exploring the world. However, once you enter into combat, the mechanic becomes turn-based. This battle system will let the player target specific body parts of an enemy and the reaction will be realistic; hence, if you shoot out the legs of an opponent, his or her movement will be drastically reduced. In some ways, this reminds us of Front Mission 3 , a strategy/RPG on the original PlayStation where the same type of mechanic existed. As for the characters, there are two main ones: Nine (male) and Aisha (female); Nine is a Blade (his specialty is, not surprisingly, physical attacks) and Aisha is a Sealer who is capable of using powerful magic spells. But there's something interesting to add-
"The player can switch back and forth between the two during the battle. Since Nine and Aisha share a single, the player must strategically choose which character to execute their attacks first. Because of this, Last Rebellion is no ordinary RPG with another mindless battle system. The player must be aware of which enemies they are fighting against, and use their experience and strategy throughout the game."
The highlighted points of this battle system include interchangeable main characters, "gorgeous watercolor-like character art and event scenes," and a story based around revenge and a "dark anti-hero." We expect to see more of Last Rebellion in the months to come, and it should release in North America some time this fall. Bring on the JRPGs!

Sad to say I'm hoping also. Playing the PSP one right now.
This sounds interesting. I'm staying cautiously optimistic about this one.
Sounds like it could be interesting. Give me WKC first though k?

I miss SNES/ps1 rpgness :*(
It will never again be the same…
That's the sad thing
Anyway we'll see
Woo, this sounds interesting! You really think it'll be around for us this fall? That's a lot sooner than I thought for a game i've never heard of before hmm
See… all we asking for are just good storyline with unique gameplay. This game makes me happy. Games don't need to be revolutionary, they could have a normal plot and gameplay. Sometimes us gamers just want to play just to play.
Hmmm, Sounds interesting. I hope they release a video soon.
me too.. but i heard that P5 will stay on ps2 or maybe there will be no Persona sequel anymore, noooooooo!!..please atlus annnouce if P5 is in the works!
More rpg on ps3 = goodness
My PS3 RPG rain dance is working! *Does the PS3 Star Ocean 4 with extra content rain dance of bliss* This game looks good, and I actually like action RPGs.
Sounds pretty good so far…Hope some videos are shown soon…Im happy to see the rpgs rollin in finally…
It's good to see more RPG coming out. So far the only thing we saw or heard about are shooters and attempt to be MMO games. I hope NIS America get a lot of money and we will see more RPG from other companies. I'm getting a little tired of shooters some times. only a little. I need to save the world with a sword now, or fist while which ever works while leveling up.
Long live turn based!
Hear, hear.
Any waiting for Cross Edge that comes out this month by NIS?
@LegendaryWolfeh I hear you I just reserve cross edge, Im looking forward to hearing more about this game and trinity universe.

Sweet. Keep the RPG's coming…
I'm still waiting for a new Vagrant Story!! Weren't they supposed to make one at some point? Does anyone have any news on that?
It sounds great, I am buying this game.
Since it's obvious PS3 is the dominating console in Japan now, I reckon it's fair to say we'll be seeing lots in the way of RPGs…and i'm loving it..:D
The more JRPG's the PS3 gets, the better. I'm all for it.
Cool sounds like a good game, but i want WKC first Plese 🙂
Really excited to see all the RPGS flooding the PS3 🙂
It's really nice to see some JRPGs coming down the shoot lately. This sounds like a very promising title. Can't wait for more info on this!
Hey guys dont get your hopes too high on this one. I want this be good but the devel has a lot to prove, is Hit Maker, producer of two of the most mediocre jrpgs on the PSP. Dragoneers Aria and Blade Dancer. I hope they outdo themselves with this game, it shouldn't be that hard.
