Remember our Resistance: Fall of Man review? You may notice that 9.6 score it received in the sound category, and if you're wondering why, you can thank VoiceAge Corporation…at least so far as the online audio is concerned. Sony used the company to "dramatically enhance voice communications by allowing for greater clarity and a more dynamic range."
In response, VoiceAge had this to say-
"VoiceAge is proud to contribute to the impressive realism of playing Resistance: Fall of Man on the PS3 online with many other players — with this added capability Insomniac Games and Sony Computer Entertainment America are poised to deliver an unmatched game-playing experience," said Laurent Amar, President of VoiceAge. "People are essentially social beings with a strong attraction for teaming and communicating. Therefore, the addition of reliable and high quality voice to online multi- player experiences will enhance the naturalness of communication between the players."
VoiceAge hopes to see other game companies take notice of what they can offer, but of course, the service comes at a price. It remains a question as to whether or not publishers will invest the extra coin for better online audio. Personally, we think it's worth it.
