Well, perhaps it's for the best. We always try to find the bright side of bad news, and let's face it: there are plenty of potentially great titles scheduled for June.
One of them used to be Batman: Arkham Asylum , which until yesterday, held a June 23 launch date. Game Informer first suggested the possibility of a delay, as an Eidos insider said the game had slipped closer to the fourth quarter of 2009. For a while, we couldn't confirm the facts one way or the other, but it finally came to light that Arkham Asylum will now release towards "the end of the summer," which will come as a definite disappointment to those who have been looking forward to some top-quality Caped Crusader fun. Eidos PR sent us an email and stated the following:
"Eidos Interactive and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment can today confirm that Batman: Arkham Asylum will be released at the end of summer 2009. This additional time will allow us to ensure Batman: Arkham Asylum is of the highest quality for gamers."
Well, as we said, there are plenty of games coming up between May and June that ought to tide us over until the end of summer, so dry those tears. It's probably better that the team is taking some extra time to refine and hone the experience; with all the hype this project has had in the past, a disappointing result would be a serious letdown for a great many gamers.

An interesting turn of events to say the least! I am interested in this title; there seems to be much positive news swirling about regarding this game.
Q!
"i am home"
This is funny. I played the demo for this at the Surprise, AZ Walmart Wednesday night. I was expecting for it to be on the store for download yesterday but it wasn't. To bad the demo was pretty fun.
Now my question is how did Walmart get the demo?
NOOOOOOOOOOOO , well the longer i wait the better the game will be :)I'll just have to play Kingdom Heart chain of memories for ps2 that i picked up today.
booo, I was looking forward to this coming out on my birthday.
they are prolly trying to avoid the Infamous/Prototype/Ghostbusters mayhem in June
You have a point there. The delay doesnt bother me that much imma have my hands full with infamous.
D'oh! Oh well end of summer isn't too bad. The long trailer for the game got it for me, I have hope for this to be good.
Well at least they can polish the game or else it's a rushed title
The Playstation magazine Cover, Ads, and Main article were ALL on this game! It's supposed to be a near-release!
This "tease the players like crazy, then take it away" corporate attitude has always been sickening, but now it's just seeming more and more like stupid business decisions are the culprit these days.
Killzone 2 had a good excuse for a delay, granted, but I still think making consumers hold-off on buying a highly-demanded and premoted product, in todays economy (that the company hyped to that high-level in the FIRST place!) is taking an unsafe risk that people will still buy, or be able to buy, the same amount of copies of those companies games if they were released the dates originally promised to the consumer.
I may buy Batman, I may not. It's the economy. But I feel bad for all my fellow PS3 players who are promised playing "Joker" as an exclusive one minute, and the next, not even be able to get the game itself. That's just wrong…if they "needed more time" they shouldn't be promoting and giving out unrealistic release dates in the first place!
Mercenaries 2 (a guilty pleasure) was delayed for "polishing".
**cough** NEVER HAPPENED…*cough,cough*…
Hopefully they really ARE polishing Batman. I'll read PSXextreme's review before I buy… 😉
This is Bullspit, I'm so tired of the gaming industry and their uncertainties. I hate these last minute delays. It's extremely annoying that nothing in this industry is certain whether it be a release date or the games very existence.
See ya later Batman.
This isn't much of a delay though is it? Could be they really do feel that they need to polish some parts after getting feedback from testers or maybe they have a couple of minor legal or localisation issues.
But given the length of the delay it really doesn't look like much serious and pretty much everything that we've seen and read about the game has been positive. Don't worry yet.
^ what he said…if this was a six month or longer delay then I would have written this game off. But a end of summer release is good. If Batman AA can deliver than I could have faith in Eidos again, just a little…
Darn, this looked really cool. I want to get it earlier!!!
