“Console Exclusive Content” Announced For Tekken 6

There was a time, way back in the day, when many video games hit the arcade first and only entered the home on a later date (and the arcade versions were vastly superior). Well, it's unlikely that the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Tekken 6 will be inferior to the arcade version…especially if they have exclusive content.

According to Siliconera , the game's Executive Producer, Katsuhiro Harada, announced that the console iteration of this hotly anticipated fighter would indeed have "console-specific content." Now, the PSP version will get new levels and a few new character customization options, but what might PS3 and 360 owners receive? They wouldn't provide us with any details, but we're hoping the news breaks at some point in the next few months; perhaps at E3. Therefore, we can only guess and speculate: what do you want to see? If you've played it in the arcades, is there something new you'd like to have in the console version? New characters are always nice, but some die-hard fans might appreciate a new mode even more… Then there are the seemingly infinite multiplayer possibilities and character enhancement options; we're only tossing out a few suggestions, and we assume the fans have more. Namco Bandai does listen to their fans, so perhaps the console-exclusive content is something gamers have already asked for…? Well, either way, this release is gonna be huge.

We'll let you know as soon as the information arrives. It may be interesting if they decide to go the Soul Calibur IV route; i.e., give PS3 owners one thing and 360 owners another…

It'll take alot more than that, Tekken just is not an XBOX game, its just wrong!

I'm not so sure I'm into this game anymore. Virtua Fighter feels like it has deeper gameplay and combo system. After playing VF4, Tekken just feels like a button masher.

Try button mashing with me in Tekken Nynja, I'll show you why it's not a button masher.

The only characters in Tekken that I would label as button masher friendly are Eddie Gordo and Christie Monteiro, beyond that it takes skill and rhythm. Heck even with those characters if you button mash against an opponent that nows how their moves can really flow, you'd be floored instantly.

Virtua Fighter is good, but I never connected with any of the characters, they all felt bland and generic, at least compared to the colorful guys and gals that work the Iron Fist Tourny. Needs more flair I guess, and a guy wearing a jaguar mask never hurts, lol.

Plus, I never really gelled with having to press a button to block. I know it's a core part of the gameplay, but I preferred how Tekken handles it I guess.

Essentially, isn't there always exclusive content when moving from arcade to console? Seems like it to me o.o kinda expected at this point in time.

Well actually, Tekken is quite techie. I have seen some of my friends play a Mortal Combat PS2 game, which in fact is a button mashing orgy, and then try to play Tekken and the mashing doesn't work. You have to learn each fighters moves and learn how to utilize they're style for strategic take downs. Some combos with certain fighters are endless, odd I know. As far as exclusive for each console? I have no idea, maybe the PS3 version will get extra because of its Bluray capabilities. I know xbot kids will have a hell of a time trying to play a fighting game on that controller.

Maybe I'll get it for the psp but definitely not for the ps3.I was really disappointed with the game footage.Looks like Tekken 5 in HD which does not interest me since I already have Tekken 5.I am positive that this game will not be better than SC4 in any way or form.

I never really cared much for SC, don't really know why, but I think i just don't really like fighting games with weapons, haha.

Hopefully Namco-Bandai, doesn't screw the pooch like Capcom did with SCIV. Seriously, this 'exclusive' content for one system, that they turn around and 'sell' to the other system 4 months after launch, is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO weak. Or even better, selling packs of costumes that are unlockable in-game. That's just retarded.

Personally, what 'extra content' can you add to Tekken? If they think they're going to win friends by making certain well-known/used characters 'exclusive' from one version to the next. I think they're in for a surprise. It'd be like….making certain characters in Street Fighter, only available on one console or the other (Buy the PS3 version and get Ryu! Buy the Xbox version and get Ken!). It may actually backfire and end up hurting their sales. Cause, I've already got Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection on my PS3. Why can't they just give us all the game. Seriously? Why does this have to be one version versus the other? It's not actually improving sales or anything…you're just making people choose a cutdown version of a game (By cut down, I mean that it's not the full game…because the other version has something this one doesn't.) That makes absolutely no sense to me. And those frivilous packs on PSN/XBLA for sale, get nothing but ignored.

Capcom did NOT make SCIV. Capcom made Street Fighter IV while Namco-Bandai made Soul Calibur IV and are making Tekken 6.

Would be sweet if the extra content was something off the wall, similar to the Tekken Ball mode. That was a blast! Or perhaps they will expand the Tekken Force mode into a fullfledged action game, hopefully with a bit more variety than Tekken 5's version.

But I agree about the DLC situation, if it's on the disk when you buy it, you should NOT have to pay to enable it, be it costumes or extra modes. Whether it's Namco or Capcom pulling that s***, it's unacceptable and I glide right by those "add-ons" in the PSN store with a shake of my fist followed by a shrug of my shoulders.

I like Tekken but if I can't make my own entire fighter and not just do some customizing then I don't think I'll get it, at least not at full price.

Tekken is NOT a button masher, however to some extent any fighter can be. And the opposite is true, if you know and execute the commands properly then even SCIV can get very technically sound: you just aren't getting very far up or down the Tower of Souls by button mashing, or beating anyone online.

If Tekken still has the same controls from previous Tekkens, it wont matter for me what "extra content" it has, this will be an automatic NO SALE for me!

That's weird, for me if they changed the controls it would probably be a no sale. How are they failing you? Makes sense to me, a button for each limb. Way more move combinations than games that limit you to heavy attack and light attack/jab.

The controls are beautiful, theres so slick, what i hate with T6 is the new bounce system, where you can dribble your opponent like a basketball or mix it with juggling the other cheap form of fighting.

fighting games on the Xbox 360 suck because you have to use the D-pad and the D-pad in the Xbox 360 is horrible

Is Tekken a Button Masher? Yes, Very much so, It is probably one of the biggest button masher ever. But thous people go up against anyone with actual skill will get there asses handed to them.

Edit button dissapeard…

But to follow up before people get the wrong idea of what I said.

I'm not saying Tekken is a bad game. BMing is just a problem with Combo based fighting games. VF, SC and DOA has its BMing issues as well.

sorry man, but out of quite a few 3d fighting games, this game isnt nearly as bad when it comes to button mashing as some would like to make it seem

Oyashiro

With my own experiences Tekken games are one of the worst offenders of Button Mashing. And the Problem comes from 2 things. Its Combo system, and its Juggling system.

Its not that any given character has broken combos, Its just that they have too many variations of the same combos. Which makes it nearly imposable to push the wrong button. Making it very easy for people that have never played the game to pull of very long combos that look good. The game is very accessible.

And then there is the Juggling system. There is a reason people say that in Tekken "The person that knocks the other into the air first, wins". Juggling is really my biggest gripe with Tekken. Its something I wish hey would tone down considerably.

I really hope they don't do that "each console gets a different exclusive" because with Soul Caliber 4 that's what turned me off about getting the game, even though I like Darth Vader more :p

I still think there shouldn't be console exclusives and everything in the game should be equal and we should get both if they can release both, there are tons of space even for the DVD-9 on the 360. Also it's a freaking fighting game, which doesn't usually push the console's limits lol.
