EA Survey Suggests Multiplayer For Dead Space 2

It was one of the best games of 2008 and as far as PSXE is concerned, better than the recently released Resident Evil 5 . In short, we say Dead Space is the best survival/horror game this generation.

For our part, we're not saying to ourselves, "just imagine how great it would be with multiplayer!" This multiplayer binge lately could prove dangerous, as developers may skimp on single-player campaigns to accommodate the immense popularity of multiplayer. But even so, we should probably be excited that Dead Space 2 will feature the option. Several sources have received a "Tell Us What You Think" e-mail, which consists of a survey that asks questions regarding the impending Dead Space sequel. For example, it asks what type of modes do we enjoy the most, if we're interested in co-op gameplay, and whether or not we'd get a kick out of a Zero-G Deathmatch. The latter certainly sounds interesting and in retrospect, there are plenty of ways to present players with some awesome, never-before-seen multiplayer modes in Dead Space 2 . The other reason we've been getting a little tired of all the multi news is simply because we see a lot of the same modes repeated in most games; EA may give us something entirely new in this hotly anticipated sequel. We so want more details on it!

At the very least, it's good to know that EA is asking these questions in the first place. We always value publisher/developer interaction with the fans, if only because it's respectful and opens a communication pathway.

Mutiplayer could work for this game if it has a DnD set up where there is a person that sets up the monsters n creatures throughout the stage and such, its more of a 1 on 1 thing im seeing

it could be a co-op of some kind done the same way r2 did with a different story for the multiplayer online?

Make it Co-Op, and I'll play it. I actually do have real life friends, and we like to hang out and play games together!

No Co-Op = no priority in my house!

While co-op is really fun, it kinda made RE5 way to easy. Even in profesional mode that game is easy if you have a partner with you who can revive you if you get hit.

That sounds like an awful idea, sorry to be harsh, but it truely is awful. we done want DS turning into Gears of War, The isolation was Dead Space's best feature.

I do agree with you to a point. However if they can pull off a decent co-op AND story that reflects that then I could give it a shot. Have the players together then split them apart to complete different tasks for that chapter. It could work…I don't know.

This is Dead Space, meaning co-op would have to include the option of "strategic-dismemberment" of your PARTNER if necessary, to stay true to the atmosphere of the game.

If your mad at your friend in any other game you normally can just whack'em or shoot'em and it's done (for hogging pick-ups, etc.). But taking that into Dead Space's world would mean that you would be taking them out one agonizing limb at a time while they're still kickin' in front of ya' and lest we forget, being able to shoot their own limbs back at them, all of which can be done in the current single-player!

Seems to cross a line for friendships… 😉

As long as it isn't mandatory (cough* RE5 cough*) I'll be happy as a clam.

It shouldn't be VS, it should be like kill as many monsters in a time period.

But what if they did a senario type match where one person is the guy with a gun and everyone else is an alien, and they have to kill him before he completes an objective.

Or in similar fashion one or two guys are the crazy regenerating alien and everyone else is a person and they have to survive for as long as they can.

Basically how Left 4 Dead is set up. Works great in that game and so does the co-op. Could work in this one too I guess but Dead Space, I think, is better without multiplayer.

well i think looking at the above comments that yes the lonelyness of the 1st game was the main selling point so what if the 2nd game had the same lonelyness but if ya have a friend round it would be good to play an arcade version of the game with the point bein to kill as many aliens in a set time, or other modes that im sure the good readers of this site can come up with?

The problem is people think Multiplayer makes a game endlessly playable, that just isn't so. Even multiplayer games get shelved to make way for new ones.

Other than that, it's just a bad idea for this game as much as having a robot partner was a bad idea for RE5. This generation of kids has no idea what a good single player campaign is anymore because they get skimped on… damn kids.

Although I'll buy it regardless cause i loved the story of the 1st, but i would love online co-op. I believe it could work if implemented properly 1)have the 2 players split up from time to time and come together at least once each chapter

2) have communication set as radio would be so you'll hear static to keep the lonely atmosphere(for example some words you'll hear from your mic while others wont go through)

3) each player should have their own objectives/sub objectives to complete in order to achieve a main goal

4)have boss fights like #3 so you always are using teamwork to take down behemoths

Every game doesn't need multiplayer. Period. Makes you wonder how some of these people survived back in the day when there was no multiplayer over the net.

Oh yeah. Arcades. Some days I really miss those 🙁 There's none by me anywhere that I know off.

Shooters are getting more and more multiplayer.
But then again, nothing wrong with it.

Dead Space was a great game and the fact that you played by yourself and you felt alone in that game fighting your way to the end was what made it such a great game…. I for one is getting really irritated with all this focus on Multiplayer.

I mean it is fun a t times but these days it has become a trend (P.O.P and RE5…..) Two great games don't get me wrong but personally I think RE5 would have been so much better if it was just you…. Sure the co op works well in the game but it no longer feels like a Resident Evil with Sheva running around with you the whole time…

Dead Space 2 can have a Co op mode but pls leave a solid single player campaign that is the heart of the game. That's what I liked about the first one and that is what I want for the future installments.

Dead Space has definitely taken over the Survival Horror crown in my opinion. And they should mess with it like they did with the RE franchise.

No freakin' way! Dead Space is my favorite game this gen, and the next installment will have a good portion of its development money squandered on adding multi-player? That absolutely sucks. Gee, will it update my Twitter profile every time I get to a new chapter?
