First Images Of EA’s Sports Complex In PlayStation Home

Sony keeps adding a variety of new spaces to PlayStation Home, making it deeper and more involving than it has been in the past. The key to Home is the continual building process, which will undoubtedly appeal to more and more users as time goes on, and EA Sports is about to make a big contribution.

We had heard about it before: it's the new EA Sports Complex, and considering the size of the publisher behind this addition, and the immense worldwide popularity of the titles that fall under this umbrella, it's not surprising to see that there's plenty to do. The screenshots come from Paddy in the Gamezbox forums . There's the "Coming Soon" sign for the Golf Pro Shop, a look at a golf course from the balcony, the racing section (complete with a full track), poker tables, and of course, loads of flat-screen TVs that will keep you up-to-date on the latest and greatest from EA Sports. You may want to log in to Home to see if the EA space is available; it should be up and running now, although some parts won't be open just yet. It's just another reason to wander around and familiarize yourself with the goings-on of this intriguing virtual world, and if that's not enough, you can always join in on the Xi fun. The newest update from Sony claims that Home now enjoys over 4 million users worldwide, and that's substantial, as the service only launched about four months ago in late December. That's about 1 million users per month! And with fresh, appealing spaces like the EA Sports Complex – and more game-themed spaces on the way – Home is quickly taking shape. Just make sure to give us more Home apartments and Threadz for our avatars, guys!

So anyway, this is great for all you sports fanatics. It's going to be updated on a constant basis and if you can't find something to interest you here, you ain't no sports fan.

That is kind of awesome, if not mostly awesome. Will probably check it out when I get home from work.

Spaces like the EA Sports space will draw more people into Home as it is what Home is all about. That said, some game launching wouldn't go amiss either since one of the *big* features of home was supposed to be it's ability to function like a game invite service.

They should have a silly little go-kart game where you can race people on that track.

Social networking and interaction. You get out of it what you put in. It's not for everyone, but it's just one more FREE thing you can play with.

Are you going to be able to use the complex to play sports? or are they just a launch pad..it would be kind of cool to wander around the golf course with friends and play a quick round or race the carts. Although knowing EA, they'll probably charge you to enjoy their space.

Just out of curiosity, is Home still going strong? I haven't gone into it since they released the Red Bull air race. So for me it's more a waste of hard drive, but are other people getting into it?

There will be several free mini-games in the complex, as well as advertizing of EA Sports products, and I believe that they will offer some Home stuff (presumably items for Home avatars or apartments) through the mall, or possibly a retail outlet of their own in the space itself.

From what I understand there is nothing to stop EA (or any other publisher) to start pushing their demos through the Home store interface allowing early preview demos, or regular demos to be distributed directly by publishers through their own Home space. I bet that they could also sell PSN games that way too.

I was in Home the other day and thought nothing too special had appeared in it. I did the Xi thing too and found the open locker. Tried the Helicopter game thing, left after 10 mins.
I tend to check once a couple of weeks now.
Hopefully the sports bit will be good.

They need to put some regulations on the poker tables… Stupid people will just keep folding just to keep in a game. It's retarded. They need to make it so the blinds and double blinds go up as the turns go up. Grrr… (a guy named Buckdiddy ruined the experience for me)

Well, I logged into my Euro account and downloaded the EA space. It was "ok".

As some have stated here, I have become tired and wary of HOME. It really doesn't do much for me yet. I still think Sony has lost focus with HOME.

With regards to EA space particularly; well I am not a sports fan generally, so that rules me out quite quickly. For the people who like their football, golfing and boxing; they should have some fun – at least with all the promotional videos in there.

There are poker tables in there, just like the Godfather Space. Again, not too exciting. Poker in the middle of the EA Sports space???

There is the Go-Karting track …and yes you can race; however I never got a chance to play it… I just saw lots of people on it… Don't know how good the graphics are or how many people can play simultaneously… if that.

We'll see how Home develops, at the moment I am only checking it out once every 2-3 weeks… to download and update and see if anything has changed.

Q!

"i am home"

I like the space, but it is lame you can't join a Texas hold-em game even with seats empty unless you join when it's started. out of 5 tables none where full and most had like 3 players on them and it wouldn't allow you to join the game. so lame.
