People enjoy their downloadable PSOne games, especially playing them on the PSP, as it pretty much increases the library of the handheld ten-fold. And as many of you know by now, a little while ago Final Fantasy VII International arrived on the Japanese PSN, which has led many to suspect that the American version isn't too far behind.
Well, that seems to be the case, as Sony is gearing up to add a plethora of new PSOne titles to the PlayStation Network, and games such as Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil: Director's Cut, and Final Fantasy VII are part of this package. Those are the three of the most important games to ever grace the original PlayStation, so it would be very nice to finally see them arrive on the PSN.
Now, the only source of info for this is PlayStationLifeStyle, which we can't stand behind, because we're not sure how credible they are. Still, it does seem like a rather plausible rumor. We'll keep you guys up to date with the latest notable additions made to the PSN
That picture is hilarious and fitting.
Even though I have FF VII already I would pick it up on PSN in a heartbeat. If this is true then it is a great move on their part.
I love Anchorman, one of Will Ferrell's funniest. Good pick Arnold.
awesome!
Nice! Hopefully I can now have FFVII on my PSP to go along with Tactics. =)
Btw, Arnold, what is that picture?? *laughs*
-Arvis
Anchorman. =)
Great news if it's true! And I just watched Anchorman yesterday so the picture makes it 10 times better!!
I have FFVII on my PSP already, though if these games look alright on a HDTV i may look into it, i have never completed RE1! got up to the catacombs and left it there.
Yeah – could you imagine FFVII and MGS in high def? I would get both these games if they did that. If not, I might have to think about it for a while considering the fact that I already own them on discs.
Dare one ask how, or is one opening the doors to a homebrew/piracy/copy protection rift?
The only ways to have FFVII on a PSP is exactly how you described, Highlander.
They need to bring more of those oldie but goodie games to the states!!!
do those games have trophies when they get put on the psn?
I can't speak for the other games on the PSN, but I bought Suikoden and it didn't have trophy support. It would be nice if they eventually added that, though.
I honestly have to say I hope they don't have trophy support. Those games were made for the enjoyment of playing and I don't want no trophies to ruin something that's already amazing.
I want FF7 so badly… my friend lost my copy, and I've been waiting for it to come out on the PSN so I could enjoy it more. I haven't touched it in years…
that sounds unlikely since the last PS1 Classics we got were Suikoden and Rayman 2. i wish Sony US would focus less on PSN Games. i mean when i look at the list of PS1 games on the EU store compared to US, EU has a lot more than we do and Japan focuses the least on PSN Games. they just got PAIN a couple of weeks ago and its been out for months in the US. They keep saying were working on getting more out but that isn't a very promising statement.
Um….unless I miss my guess Pain will have needed considerable localization for the Japanese market, not to mention a whole new set of characters that are more culturally resonant in Japan. After all David Hasselhoff doesn't strike me as the most likely character for PAIN there, and I can see one or two of the girl characters being replaced by more anime styled girls instead. Hmmmm….come to think of it, can we get some of those anime styled girls for Pain here? Their screaming in Japanese would probably add to the mesmerizing fun of it all.

XENOGEARS DO WANT!!!!!
Yes please. As much as I dislike the way in which many Xenogears fans dismiss Xenosaga, I would love to play Xenogears, just to find out what all the fuss is about.
I loved Xenosaga, but Xenogears is where it's at. Trust me you need to play that game.
Perhaps they can throw a Gran Turismo game onto that pile as well? While there at it FFVIII wouldn't go amiss either.
damn I want those in the EU PSN..
oh and GT1 or GT2
erm.. Soul Edge would be nice too.
Yes Soul Edge, I forgot about that. Definitely. At least then my PSP would have a sword basted beat'em up of some kind – why Namco haven't ported SC2 or SC3 to the PSP is anybodies guess.
I will not smile unitil they put Tekken 3 on there, I mean of the motherfuzzing american store they have tekken 2 which really, who wants?
I sure hope this rumor is true! I'd buy FFVII again in a heartbeat if I could play it on my psp, perhaps even MGS too. I'd also like to see some of the old Twisted Metal games on the psn. Ooh oh oh and Breath of Fire 3!
this is rich. just need a few more games to add like Xenogears, chrono trigger and cross. vagrant story and more.
Hey TheHighlander if you played Xenogears you would surely love it over the new ones. I have them all (plan to play Xenogears again soon) it was done nicely when "Sqaure Soft" had it. Still pissed that they sold it. The way i see things is Sqauresoft was good like the first Xenogears the new Xenosaga is OK like Sqaure Enix. I'm sure a lot of you guys agree on this one.
Does anybody have any idea how much these games will cost when they hit the PSN? I REALLY hope they're nice and cheap like the other classic titles. I would love to have a digital version of so many games, it just makes playing the old classics so much easier. Plus, I just recently tried to replay FFVII and found out the disks are too loved (read: scratched) to play.
my friend lost one of my disk. so angry
Most of them are about 5 dollars. I think FFVII was 1600 yen on the Japanese PSN which is roughly $16.32. Basically 5 dollars per disk. And that is a steal when your other alternative is $70+ on E-bay.
You know… they should really put Chrono Cross up on the Network. I'd spend $20 to have that game back (mom broke my original years ago).
-Arvis
I wouldn't mind having the Cross back as well.
Off topic: You can get Chorno Cross for $17.00 new at http://www.estarland.com. On topic: I would love to get Final Fastasy VII on my PS3 hard drive.
Thanks Big T. And how, then, would I get it on my PSP? Legally, I mean.
-Arvis
I think releasing FFVII on PSN would be the easiest way to make a ton of cash, in fact I'm surprised the PSN didn't debut with it. My FFVII discs are still pristine so I'm okay but this is just good news anyway.
*Crosses fingers and hopes the release is a testing of the waters for a remake*
Whatever happened to "We're gonna all drop this remake nonsense"? It's gotten almost as bad as Duke Nukem Forever. I want this as much as anybody, but to bring it up everyday just reopens the same ol' wounds. If it comes out, yay! If not, there's sadly nothing we can do.
I would like to have GT2on there.
I LOVE LAMP!
hopeffuly Capcom can get all their PS1 fighting games to psn like MvC.My only complain with psn is that all PS1 games don't take up the whole screen it really bothers my eyes .
Ive never got to play FFVII wanted to but I opted to play Xenogears instead which I loved and I hope to see on the PSN soon also. Finally getting to play FFVII would be cool.
Sweet rumor…nevertheless…can't you still get Final Fantasy VII by just going on the Japanese PSN?………..by….creating a Japanese PSN account? Why is everyone complaining about this?
Because not everyone can read and speak Japanese? Wth?
If I can play a portable version of MGS and FF7, FF8, and even FF9….I'd buy a PSP tonight!!!
