The attach-rate statistic is an important one for console manufacturers, and although Microsoft usually sees the numbers fall in their favor, Sony is claiming that the PlayStation 3's attach rate for multiplatform games is better than the Xbox 360's.
According to Gamasutra , Sony says many of the bigger blockbuster multiplatform games actually sell better on the PS3 than on the 360. But because of the user base discrepancy, one can't use hard numbers; one has to view the percentages. For example, there were 402,919 copies of Street Fighter IV sold on the PS3, while 446,435 copies of the Xbox 360 version have been sold. If you add in the difference of 5-7 million hardware units, though, the percentage falls in Sony's favor. This is a logical way to examine the numbers, of course, but Microsoft can always point to their larger installed user base and say, "that's that. We're still winning." Well, based on the fact that exclusive software tends to sell hardware, it won't be any huge surprise if the PS3 has closed the gap significantly before the end of 2009, and many analysts have predicted that Sony will catch the 360 within the next couple of years. In terms of an attach rate, perhaps it's important to select the right game…? "Blockbuster" third-party titles is kinda vague.
But Sony has also referenced Grand Theft Auto IV in the past, as they've said that the attach rate is once again better on the PS3, all things considered. This console battle is tricky, so it often relies entirely on how you interpret the facts.
Statistics never lie, liars use statistics.
It kind of depends on who came up with the statistics, how much bias is there, and how accurate the statistics are.
DYK?: 42% of all satistics are made up on the spot.
It's actually 90% of all statistics are made up on the spot…
Fine. *Correct* statistics never lie, liars use statistics. Statistics are statistics. If they are not made up, which is just morally wrong, then they are valuable. Bias is shown in how statistics are used, not in how they are created.
90 percent of statistics can be made to show whatever you want 80 percent of the time.
Timster proves my point. And what's up with people getting thumbs down for no reason? Do people do it for fun? You can have all the fun you want as long as you thumbs up me. 🙂
Once again, what difference does all this make to anyone just wanting to play the games that are available for their system. I don't care about all this. I just want to play my ps3 games that I want to play.
You care enough to read the article and make a comment about it.
Ben i know my comments can be a little brash at
times but, this is good news.Im a follower of
all that's posted here. This article is one of the reasons why. Anyways to be a little off I would like to know if there's any news on
ACE COMBAT for ps3,Hawks was a superficial clone.
Or even any news on the price drop.
PS: The rambo joke was funny.I know i know it was trolling

I've always known this. People who buy a PS3 love good games and buy those blockbusters. Many of those 360 owners are just cheapos who've probably never paid full price for a game, blockbuster or not.
Oh no! Percentages! Everyone hide!
Nobody cares about Percentages. Even if they are valid, people just want hard numbers.
I prefer percentages because they give me the FULL picture.
Same here.
When comparing systems its probably the only accurate way of doing so. But you get blocked with a "So what? The other still sold more".
It's a annoying side effect of the "War".
I guess Sony can say that they are "proportionally" winning. It only really matters to them. While many of us care about it, it really doesn't affect us either way. Just rooting for the home team.
War…war never changes.
War has changed…
War changed so much it's a mirror image of itself. Now war = raw.

Xbox can be modified….
By an infant.
Third party blockbusters will be a thing of the past pretty soon, multi-plat devving is killing them.
I know most of these statistics are made up, but im not too surprised that the real numbers are close to this. Its not possible that xbox owners not owning the must have games. They are much more hardcore than PS3 owners. The attach rate to be higher on the PS3 is because of RROD.
Most of the owners out there bought more than one xbox 360 in their lifetime. Most likely modding their box and voids the warranty and then it RROD. If you dont count the Xbox that got bricked, you'll see that the attach rate for the blockbuster games are much higher on xbox than PS3.
I have also read in an article saying that theres only about 14 million owners on xbox live. How can half the owners have a xbox and not take advantage of their famous online? Most likely RROD takes a huge chunk out of those numbers. Theres also the Japanese-like owners that get it for the JRPG, and dont give a damn about online.
Makes me wish the 360 was more reliable. Sure it makes the PS3 look sweeter, but it makes it damn hard to compare any numbers between the two systems.
If your numbers are correct which I'm not sure they are or not, I would assume that half of the xbox owners don't take advantage of the "famous" online because it costs something like $50 a year to use. I'm plenty happy with my free online that I get with my PS3.
How are 360 owners more hardcore than PS3 owners?
The Street Fighter IV statistics say a lot for me.
who cares. In the end of the big fight, Sony will emerge the victors. This generation is PS3 and 360. In two years or a little more 720 will be out and the PS3 will have a full 10 years like PS2 has enjoyed. By the time the 10 years is up Sony will have doubled 360's sales. You know how Microsoft works, as soon as they put out a new machine it's the end of the previous one and they won't support it anymore just like they did previously. They will force consumers to buy the next one as they are famous for.
In the end Sony wins this generation again and then PS4 comes out to battle the 720 with probably the same end result. Microsoft is in it to make a buck. Sony is too, but they care about their name and business more so. That's why they they have three successful playstation business's. PS3,PS2, and PSP. What's Microsoft got? Vista and crapbox 3fixme. lol's
They hopefully will have Windows 7, lol. But yeah, I really doubt M$ will release a new Box anytime soon to be honest, I mean think about it, FF13 is being made for the 360 and that won't be released until bout 2010, so that leaves about 1 year till new one? I'm thinking maybe M$ already made a new box 😛 and SE is actually porting the ps3 version to THAT xbox instead, or maybe M$ will just leave the console business to people that know what they're doing.
You can lead a fanboy to statistics, but you still can't make him think.
Stats I agree will not change the thinking process to buying a console, it'll help a little.
More and more people are catching on to PS3 its obvious
PSN ID Biggest_GMoney
I cant wait until e3 come around to see who will be bringing out the big guns. Im rooting for Sony but I dont trust M$.

Yup, who cares….I play whatever system's game suits me at the moment.
I only go by 1 statistic(and I made that one decades ago)…….
"Not even 1% of my little toe, give's a rats ass what the other 99 & 9/10% of the world thinks".
I've worn my "F.T.W" patch proudly since the 70's(and "NOT" as a fashion statement like some 8 year old rugrats think it is these days).
Hmm…interesting…maybe it could be because PS3 owners love a variety of games besides blood and gore games.
And of course there will be people who own an Xbox 360…who do love a variety of different games.
