Well, we may not be getting co-op gameplay , but Guerilla Games is considering another significant enhancement.
It seems that many Killzone 2 fans really want a party system for the online multiplayer; this will allow us to hold groups together as we pass from map to map. It's a feature that most avid participators would appreciate and thankfully, it appears that Guerilla may indeed add it at some point in the near future. According to one of the team's latest Twitter updates, the team is "investigating" the option and we hope to hear more about it soon. Here's the exact wording of the update- "We're investigating various possibilities for implementing a party system." Doesn't get much more straightforward than that, right? Most will agree that an online FPS without this feature is kinda irritating, and you can trust us when we say Guerilla isn't about to sleep on updates and patches for the KZ2 multiplayer experience. The new maps are great, but if you want to keep yelling at 'em to make things better in certain ways, we're confident they'll listen. We didn't get co-op, true, but has there ever been a time in the past year where the developers weren't fairly up-front with the gaming public? We think they've been pretty darn forthcoming, actually.
So we'll be on the lookout for the possible addition of a party system. We don't know a thing about the technical angle of this, but we'd like to think it wouldn't be that immensely difficult to implement such a feature.
Related Game(s): Killzone 2
This is an enhancement that would be greatly appreciated… as well as an indicator on the game select page as to whether a game is auto-balance or not.
Meh. I was really hoping that they would implement co-op and since that seems to be never going to happen I don't see this game getting much rotation anymore for me. Sad really cause it was a lot of fun. The party system would be great and IMO should have been there since the beginning.
I think it is kind of funny that I can have an opinion and garner multiple thumbs down. I don't mind people disagreeing with my point of view but I thought the thumb thing was reserved for either very great input or blatant BS. I suppose I was wrong. Anyway, I stand by my opinion. You are always with a partner and co-op just seems like a natural step for this game and I was really hoping to have it. I like the game fine enough but I play games to have fun and I don't feel like it is very fun to play a game by myself and have my fiancé or a friend just sit there and watch when they could be joining in right along with me. That is the reason that Resident Evil 5 is getting much more rotation in my machine than KZ2 is. Go ahead and disagree but I feel like the game would benefit greatly from the inclusion of co-op
I agree, with actually all of your statements including the thumbs down. I'd have to say I was greatly looking forward to co-op. I mean the game seems like it's revolving around co-op, YOU HAVE A PARTNER WITH YOU ALMOST THE WHOLE TIME, but whatever, I really liked the game, but I haven't picked it up in honestly about 3 weeks now and this DLC won't really make me want to pick it up if it's only 2 maps… sigh
I agree with coverton341, this game needs co-op.
KZ2 needs a party system more than co-op.
Even though Killzone 2 has raised the bar; it does amaze me how developers can decide to simply leave out such important criteria…
So if I were sitting down to create/develop my own shooter; I would be analysing all shooters, seeing what features they have and making sure that my shooter is developed to their standard and higher; including all features from the outset.
Does beg a thought though, that maybe some features were held back in light that they may be included later on as DLC for a fee. Problem is Guerrilla now know that fans will not simply shell out continuously; they would need to make some "obvious" features available… expected features so to speak – so that fans remain "peaceful" and "cooperative"
Does boggle the mind though sometimes!

I know, I've always wondered why they do that…
I always think like, who in the hell decided that adding such a great feature (to any game that's missing one) was a bad idea?
The cover and ads for KZ2 say "5 out of 5", if they make it any better, it would then have to be "6 out of 5"! That's a lot of reprints and retractions! (Remember Nigel from Spinal Tap?…"But these amps go up to 11. It's like 10 but 1 louder!")
Damn… that's what happens to you when you are smock'n a stack of weeeeeed and blowing out chunks of Mrs. Balls chutney!
Q!
"i am home"
How's this for a DLC?
NUKES.
Yeah, that would do it…small nukes…like "Starship Troopers"!
(Probably be 3 points for a headshot!!!)
I'd prefer they fix the disconnects first.
Playing on US servers since launch day, I have never experienced a single disconnect playing KZ2…
Wow I never had that problem before WorldEndsWithME, anyways I really would be happy if they implement this into the game. Cause I get tired of raping my friends and them returning the favor. It's like we're playing mercenary team death match (COD4). When we keep on switching teams/teammates. CO-OP also as well 🙂
it might be a regional thing but error 8013 has never been solved.

I used to get the "Error 8013" with Killzone. Took a while, and some router swaps, but I finally figured it out.
Something on the network is killing your bandwidth for PSN and KZ2. For me, it was a Bittorent client I had running all day/night. Once that was shut down, things have been liquid smooth ever since! Hope this helps you out, too!
I'll scope around Big6, thanks for the tip
I always thought that ps3 exclusives were hampered by sony's marketing skills, how wrong i was.
Killzone 2 is great, dont get me wrong but its missing so much; i hate the custom soundtrack implementation that only plays once you begin a game and stops right after its over.
And GG are investigating party play? honestly! they should be implementing it and allowing custom tracks the way burnout does. Oh well, maybe all this would have happened eariler if GG were'nt working on "fixing" the controls!

Id love 2 see coop but hey sh** happens, however party invite should have been implemented from the start. What were they thinking
Actually you can play your music from your playlist from the xmb while playing KZ2 online. Party system is going to be a huge plus. Co-op, it would be appreciated but it's not a need. I mean really do all FPS need to have co-op? Would it not make every FPS basically the same. Some features we do need and need our voices heard but others that we don't or won't have, we shouldn't complain about.
The music only starts once the game starts and pauses when you go back to the main menu
Whwy why why does it seem nobody is asking for an expanded online ranking??? 15hr ranking system is a joke!!
The rank is 15 hours, but I just finished the medals at about 60 hours played.
But yeah, I still agree with you. The seemingly infinite Prestige ranking on COD kind of jumped the shark.
you can play customer music??? wow after raking up about 80hrs online and getting the platinum trophy for it i really didnt know you could play custom soundtracks. if i had i probably wouldnt have shouted so many expletives at the tv. lol
I agree that a party system should have been in there from day 1. However, in their defence, this is their first PS3 game, so I think they were probably more concerned with providing a stable basic networking environment.
The other goodies can come later through patches. I really like the online MP, but there are a few things I wish they would have… No use mentioning it, as it won't do any good, so I'll stop here. =/
Co-op would have been sweet, but I would rather have split screen, like cod4, so my buddies can play when they are over. party system I could care less.
off topic!! is there a way to have 2 ps3 and 2 tv's and play 4 on 4 off line???? than would be so sweet, do any games support this??? thanks for the help.
I believe you can do this with Warhawk for 4-player splitscreen on 2 machines.
On Resistance 2, you can do that too, but with 2-player splitscreen on 2 machines.
It's a blast, man!! Good luck!
Hold up!!! You can play splitscreen in warhawk????????
Up to 4 players, karneli lll
Party breaks/makes an online game for me
I mean not ALWAYS, but man being able to form a party with friends regardless in which clan they're on is always good.
Warhawk also needed this, badly.

@ docpain trust me you are definitely not the only one who wants expanded online ranking.
yeahh warhawk's joining game situation is very similar to this, they both need sorting really
About time they investigated how unbalanced the Assault class is too.
I have yet to play an FPS that included rockets, where the rockets weren't unbalanced.
But what were they thinking making the rocket class TWICE as vital, and (before badge mixing) regenerative health and run speed bonus with boost.
That is why I have the rocket and grenade launchers disabled on every room I create. There is a delicate charm to using the assault class with revolver succesfully 😀
dont dog on me… but killzone 2 was THE most overrated game so far this year. cod4 is waaay bettr.
