EA Ships Brass Knuckles To Game Critics, Wants Them Returned

Oh come on, what are we going to do with them? Just because we all have the pressing urge to use one when standing behind the dude who can't figure out what bread to use for his Subway sandwich…doesn't mean we'd act on the urge.

According to Kotaku , game journalists around the country received a pair of brass knuckles with their review packet of The Godfather II , and now, EA wants those knuckles back. An EA representative said they wanted to make sure the weapon was "properly disposed of," and the company is asking critics to return the brass knuckles at the earliest possible convenience. The problem? Well, brass knuckles are illegal in many states around the union, and that includes California, where EA HQ happens to be. Having "metallic knuckles" in Colorado is considered a Class 1 misdemeanor, and Kotaku has contacted EA for more information. The publisher may or may not face legal action for shipping the brass knuckles across state lines, and in all honesty, we're a little surprised that a company as big as EA missed the boat on this one. The only good news is that it's not a public package; the knuckles only went to members of the press, so maybe that's the lone saving grace.

Either way, one has to admit…it's amusing. We've seen all kinds of extra goodies show up with review packages – golf balls for Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds , a little survival kit for SOCOM on the PSP, etc. – so it probably wouldn't surprise us to see brass knuckles. Well, we wouldn't be shocked, anyway.
