It can take an extraordinary amount of time and effort to produce a MMO, which is one of the reasons we haven't heard too much about Sony Online Entertainment's current projects. Another reason is because they're more interested in actually making the games than they are in promoting them.
We haven't heard anything new about MAG at GDC 09, but according to Joystiq, we now have estimated release dates for both The Agency and DC Universe Online . SOE's Hal Milton also addressed the aforementioned topic concerning promotion and hype: "We don't want to keep having hype sessions just showing movies and crap," he said. "We need to make the game and not just keep promoting it." There's a kernel of truth and nobility to that, but from the journalist's standpoint, there's something to be said for promotion and hype… Anyway, SOE president John Smedley announced the estimated release dates during his GDC keynote address, but they're not exactly just around the corner. All we know is that The Agency and DC Universe Online will launch some time next year, and beyond that, the details remain a little thin. It's a good idea never to start the hype train too early, but when you announce a game in 2007 ( The Agency ), gamers can get a little antsy when we enter 2009 without much in the way of new info.
Anyway, it's not the greatest update in the world, but it's enough to let you know that yes, indeed these two games are coming. We also know you want a progress report on MAG , but you may have to wait for E3…
Related Game(s): The Agency , DC Universe Online
This game will be huge!
Been interested in it since the first trailer where they showed us how they'd upload new missions every day and we'd have to play out the game in really fun/creative ways.
With clans and such(this is the funnest part)
But yeah hopefully it's a hit!
When you say this game…you're not being very specific…
he means the Agency.
I really like the idea of The Agency, it sounds really cool.
I don't know about DC Universe Online though, it sounds kinda weird. I am interested in the new Batman game though, it looks a lot like Splinter Cell except with wings!!
Hopefully one of them can slip in at the holilday season. As for MAG, im still unsure how everything is gonna work out. To me, the idea of MAG seems to make it a game where people are going to love it or hate it.
i've been waiting for DC Online for awhile now. I can't wait to be playing a fully online "rpg" type game again where you create your own character and level up and things.
god i miss playing eq, eqoa, ffxi sometimes
NCsoft's guild wars ps3(BTW I haven't heard of what has become of that sony/NC deal), or eq ps3 would be great but not really intrested in DC. As for an ffmmo, lol so they can delay ff13 and vs. more, plus the high chance that it would be a 360 exclusive, no thanx.
I think they should stick FFXI on PS3 just to tide us over.
I don't think SE cares about being fair right now. Infact, though crasy cosnpiracy theory, I would not doubt if Wada want ps3 to fail hard.

When they say 'next year' do they mean next fiscal year? As in march 2011?
reference:gowIII
Not intrested in DC, but the agency, that is another story. Its disappointing that they wont make it to 09, but at least we know it is not going to be another Untold Legends. Which is great cause the concept sounds amazing(the agency).
do you mean Brutal Legend?
No I mean Untold Legends.
I've never gotten into an MMO because they are mainly on PC, but the Agency looks interesting. Thing is, are we gonna have to pay to play? I don't recall if that was spoken of yet.
Yay for gamestop lies, they told me DC online was canceled 😐
They told me PS3 was cancelled. 😀 (chuckle chuckle)
Your mistake was asking ps3 related questions at a gamestop store.
indeed
i really wanna play the dc universe one i like the idea of making your own character and stuff
dc universe is going to be awesome. I hate having to wait longer for it though
I'm just glad to know The Agency is still in production. I'm looking forward to both of these games.
Hopefully Sony is testing the waters with the free-to-play Free Realms this year to see if it is viable to just sell both of these MMOs for $60 to PS3 owners and not charge a monthly fee to play. An extra monthly fee would just kill it for me.
I'm looking forward to both these games as well Orvisman. It is kinda too bad they are another year+ off though, but I can wait …the more time they put into them, the better they will be out of the box. I played ffxi on my ps2 for a few years and quit about a year ago. I really miss it and find I don't get into games much anymore unless they are as in depth as ffxi was… which is never. I kinda doubt it, but hopefully The Agency and DCU are just as addicting as ffxi was.
