Well, we certainly expected to be bringing you news concerning downloadable content for Resistance 2 before now, but it seems Insomniac needed more time.
As reported on the MyResistance.net message boards, Insomniac's EGMBrian has confirmed that recent rumors regarding DLC and a new patch for R2 are definitely true. This week – March 25 – we can expect the details to arrive at the Game Developers Conference, and we're hoping that we'll get all kinds of good stuff to enhance both the single and multiplayer experience. As for the patch, we figure there are a number of things that need fixing or upgrading, especially in terms of the multiplayer. Designers will often patch certain weapons and even the gameplay itself, depending on player feedback and tweaks the designers need to implement. We'll probably get the standard assortment of map packs for the online mode, but if they're willing to take everything a step further and give us something extra for the single-player campaign, we'll be more than satisfied. R2 was definitely one of the best games of 2008 so you can't really say it's "broken" to the point where we "need" patches and updates, but additional content is always appreciated.
Also, don't forget that Insomniac has announced that they are working on a new PS3 exclusive. We're all assuming it's a new Ratchet and Clank , but they haven't made any announcement just yet. Perhaps that will also drop at the GDC…?
