Kojima Adopts New Title At Konami

Hideo Kojima has received multiple honors in the past year – many of which were Lifetime Achievement Awards from various sources – so it seems only logical to promote a guy like that.

According to Kotaku, Kojima will have a new title as of April 1; that of "Managing Director Operating Officer" and "Studio Head of Kojima Productions." Now, either this is just a cruel trick to play on the journalists (damnit, now we have to type all that whenever we put Kojima's name in an article?!), or it's a definite promotion. We've heard that Kojima may not be handling the reigns on Metal Gear 5 and it may be due to this title change, although we're not willing to dissect his new position. Prior to founding his own studio within Konami, Kojima was a vice-president for the publisher, then he stepped down in 2005 to focus more on the game design aspects of the business. All we know is that we really don't care what his company title is; we just want to know what his next project is, and when we might get some details on it. We're all hoping the rumor that MG5 will be revealed at this year's E3 proves true, because if it doesn't, we'll all be left hanging…and that's just plain annoying.

So anyway, we figure more congratulations are in order for Mr. Kojima. By the time we're all old and gray, it's very likely that Hideo Kojima will be one of our most favorite people in the universe.
