We always like to keep an eye on industry professionals who have contributed a great deal to the rising artistic achievements in video games. Rhianna Pratchett is one of them, and as Joystiq tells us, she has launched her own website .
If you're not familiar with Pratchett's work, she is a professional writer of over ten years who has penned scripts for the likes of Mirror's Edge , Overlord II , and Viking: Battle for Asgard . She's currently writing her first comic book mini-series with DC Comics and has also contributed to several books on gaming narrative (such as "Professional Techniques for Video Game Writing"). We can always use better writing in games, and people like Rhianna are the ones who will continue to push us forward. She's also a member of the Writers' Guild of Great Britain, and she seeks to "improve games narrative and the lot of games writers everywhere." The more mainstream this industry becomes, the more we're going to need such talent and we're hoping to see much more in the way of engaging and professional scripts in the near future. Obviously, the one title everyone always points to is last year's Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots , and although it was indeed an impressive accomplishment, there's still a ways to go.
Learn more about Rhianna Pratchett at her website if you wish, and if you're willing, sit back and reflect for a moment on just how far the industry has come in terms of storytelling… In many respects, gaming is still in its infancy stages, and really, the only limit is our own imaginations.
