After yesterday's rumor concerning a possible PS3 price cut , everyone was on high alert for news like this. However, we still say the two pieces of news are unrelated; the previous rumor likely won't be confirmed, and this isn't a price cut. It's a new PS3 bundle.
According to a Joystiq reader tip, Target stores have already received a new PS3 SKU number. Apparently, it denotes the new bundle package that you see pictured here, which will become available on March 29. It includes an 80GB PS3 console and two Greatest Hits titles; Resistance: Fall of Man and MotorStorm . Now, this is pretty similar to the bundle that released in Europe back in 2007, and it may seem somewhat…out of date. But it could be great for those who have yet to leap aboard the PS3 bandwagon, as you're essentially getting the two games for free. This bundle should retail for $399, which is of course the exact price of the 80GB PS3. This still isn't a price drop, but if the rumor turns out to be true, a lot of people may be swayed by those two free titles. They may be a few years old, but they're still well worth playing, and great starting points for those who are a little late to the party. Is this what the EB employee was talking about? Eh, seems unlikely.
He specifically mentioned a "price cut," and that doesn't describe this new bundle package. We'll wait for official confirmation on both pieces of news, but we figure such a bundle is quite likely. The price drop…? We're still calling foul.
I am sticking to my prediction that Sony will bring out the pricecut at E3 2009 along with the PS3 Slim….
It is of great possibility that you will be right "godsman"… we all look to the heavens and wonder…
Q!
"i am home"
yeah i'd agree with that, but i'll see you your PS3 slim and raise you the return of PS2 backwards compatibility! 🙂 I rekon it'll happen eventually.

I think it may still be a bit too early for a slim PS3… maybe next year, but im not ruling it out completely.
I am, on the other hand, expecting a price cut
The bundle should include Resistance 2 and Motorstorm: Pacific Rift. Not only are they both terrific titles, but it would give the person who buys the bundle 2 strong titles right out of the gate! Also, those two games with an HDMI cable will show the consumer a good taste of what the power of the PS3 is XD
that would drive the price up, and I think Sony wants to keep it relatively low.
But I do somehow think this coincides with the supposed "price cut" EB was on about. It makes sense if you think about it: PS3 becomes cheaper to make, so Sony drops core systems price, and then releases a new bundle to entice gamers while not losing money by making the bundle.
About the price going up, I'll have to agree with that. If the price would go up, they can always do it with the 160GB lol
Take out uncharted and put in those 2. Or, put all 3 in XD
But my last part seems really unlikely =P
Nice bundle, when I got mine it was the 80gb Motorstorm bundle and I certainly would not have complained about getting Resistance. Still I wonder where the thinking is at this point. Why hasn't the US seen a KZ2 bundle?
I've been wondering the same thing…
This week Best Buy has a deal where you buy any PS3 and you get a free copy of either Killzone 2, LBP, or MLB 09: The Show.

Well, that's close to being a bundle.
Cool cool, though I prefer a price drop
What kind of game is MotorStorm?
Motorstorm is a racing game, only your racing in dirt and hills not an actual race track.
A price drop will happen but II dont think its going to happen until this holiday season. Who know II could be wrong lol,we just have to wait and see.
i didnt particularly like R:FOM. i dont know why, probably cos i never went online
That's a pretty good bundle. When I got mine all I got was the Spiderman 3 dvd.
I honestly don't see a price cut anytime soon. Think we have a better chance of getting b/c back.
ooops I said dvd meant blue ray disc
I don't think they will drop the price with this recession going on. Just seems too risky in business.
As for the slim PS3, I dont think they will do it. To make the model slimmer, surely they would have to lose some of the interior, and therefore some of the power of the console??
I bet Sony is upset at all these rumors on account of it might put people off of a purchase. Anyone here that doesn't have a PS3 yet thinking of getting this bundle?
