GameStop Used Deal This Weekend

Everyone can use a little help in this trying economy, so we've located a good deal for those of you seeking to satisfy your gaming habit without breaking the bank.

The screenshot here should say it all. As Gamer Deals reports, this weekend is a "Buy 2, Get 1 Free" promotional event at GameStop. It includes their used games and accessories, and you can take advantage of it by shopping in the store or online. There are instructions at the previous link on how to activate the deal when shopping online, but some of you may prefer to simply drive on down to the nearest store and peruse about. Although you may not find something like RE5 used this weekend (it comes out tomorrow), there are always plenty of used titles to sift through. And who says you have to stick to games released in this generation? With the sheer number of PS2 titles out there, we can pretty much guarantee you missed a few, and now's the time to pick 'em up. Obviously, we can pretty much guarantee that the third item you select – the one that'll be free – will have to be equal to or less than the cost of the most expensive of the first two. That's just the way these things work. You can't go up there with two $10 used games and expect to get a $50 one for free.  Just remember, this deal is good for three days only: it runs this weekend, from March 13-15.

So anyway, if you're out and about this weekend or the weather keeps you inside, consider visiting GameStop and checking out the used games and accessories. Sometimes, deals like this can yield some very cool results if you've got an eagle eye…

Thank You PSXExtreme….this is why I visit this site often.

I still haven't played Heavenly Sword and Tomb Raider underworld, so now would be a good time to buy.

I collect too, and here's the best way I've found to get all the stickers off(even the ones that were put on manuals or inner-sleeve's artwork)

Use Lighter fluid, just a few drops & let it soak in for a minute of two.
Then slowly peel it away.

If it's still too dry & you still can't peel it off yet, then add a few more drops so it stays at least semi-wet.

If after you get the sticker off, you still have some sticky residue left from the sticker, just use a few more drops, wait a minutes & wipe off with a paper towel, etc.

FYI, don't worry about doing it on the manual or inner sleeve because the paper dries out quickly & doesn't leave any fluid stains.

Hope that helps.

DISCLAIMER: just keep away cigarettes & other ignition sources while doing it, LOL

If you don't see it, just ask the cashier and their point you in the direction of the closest store that has it.

laxpro2001

Yea but I think though that they all have to be in the same store… and the ones im worried about are either Eternal Sonata or Valkyria Chronicles

I actually did that with DW6 and ended up getting it for about 30$ which was pretty awesome

No they don't have to be in the same store, they will just have you take your receipt to the other store the game is located, and the discount will be tacked on when you purchase the remaining games. It's more run around, but you still get all the games you want!

I think what they do is return the games you purchased at the other store and rering them up with the discount.

Toys R Us had buy 2 get one free on new games just before the holidays. Now THAT was awesome. GameStop sales are worse than nerd conventions. I can't go in there… it smells of BO.

Hey Gogaku, don't feel bad. I just got MGS4 not too long ago and have been playing it to death. It is truly a masterpiece. I heard the hype and praise, but words fail me. MGS4 is amazing (new OR used).

I just went to gamestop's website to look at their selection of games and it is a rip off. They are charging $44 for a used Soul Calibur 4. I could have gotten it for $30 brand new at Circuit City. It is not just on SC4, it is on almost all the games they are selling. They are charging way too much for used games. I think they purposefully increased the prices for this buy 2 get one free rip off sale.

i checked @ my unfriendly neighborhood Gamestop, and the same asshat manager that called me a ps3 fanboy liar when i told him there really WAS a resistance 2 CE, says this promo doesn't exist and that if i go in there 1 more time to spread my lies hes banning me from that location… D*CK…

wow, why even go back there? screw them. I'm glad my Gamestop is really good about being non-bias. It doesn't matter if I bring up Gears of War or Killzone, they still give me a very honest opinion and never talk about what console is better. They are pretty cool, they went out of their way to give me a call about the killzone midnight release event.

if yours are xbox fanboys, just go find another gamestop or go to worsebuy or cc. i recommend craigslist if anyone waits long enough after a game's release. I find used games all the time for $40 from someone else. not bad at all.

Gamestop is a terrible place to buy games, thank god for the internet. When deals like this do come out I often decide to at least stop by the store, except it normally ends up with me walking out having not purchased anything.

Yeah I'm sure Gamestop is going to have to push some better deals after Amazon is starting to get into the whole used games industry:
http://www.amazon.com/Video-Games-Trade-In/b?ie=UTF8&node=979418011

I'm excited to see what competition will bring to the consumers. Hopefully more stuff like this.

BTW Amazon is suppose to give consumers 10% more for trading in their games and sell those games for 20% less than Gamestop.

I look forward to helping Amazon with this, I already give Ebay a ton of business.

wat a good idea to go on craigslist ill chek that out and i feel bad for that gamestop manager cuz 1 day for being such an ass to people hes gonna probably get screwed over i hate knowin that there are such ignorant people who have jobs while those that would really appeal to the customers in a great way are left jobless that is so sad and F**ked up and gamestop prices on used games and systems has always been a rip off new used games go for only 5 bucks less thats redicules and systems are only 50 bucks less no matterwhich system i think thats just super gay and the only reason i buy stuff there is for all the exclusive bunos stuff they give out wen u preorder

Great, I'll be hitting my 5 local GS/EB's this weekend, & hopefully I can add a bunch of old(new to me) titles to my PS2/Xbox collection.

Hell, last week I was even able to find the hard-to-find "PS2" copy of IGN's 2006 PSN GOTY "Syphonfilter: Dark Mirror".

BikerSaint if you don't mind me asking how do you store your vast collection of games? Do you have them on a bookcase? I myself had my dad build me a custom dresser with each different row being a specific generation in gaming.

I just wrote about this type of thing in the "digital downloads" article.

Don't forget to use your Edge card for an extra 10% discount.

If you do, you can get three $55 games for $99, or $33 a piece. Sweet!

Although, I don't need the extra competition as I head for that game I want. I guess I'll need to stretch and limber up after work. 😉

@LV,
I found $60 5-foot custom high wooden CD shelving units(7 shelves each) at a Big Lots store for only $10 each some years ago. I bought 5 of them & lined them down my hallway.

When I first got them, I just used them for my music Cd's & my PS1 games, but as my collection grew & I started buying PS2 & Xbox games, I've since had to relegate all my music & computer CD's to a bunch of LaserLine towers(holds100 each).
To make the PS2 & Xbox's fit, I just lay them on their opening end & slide em in, they fit perfect. Each shelf holds 75 PS1 games or 52 of the bulkier PS2/Xbox games(I should've bought 10-15 more of the units at that time cause they're no longer made, & I just bought 6 more games tonight & now I've completely run out of shelf space). Right now, I have no idea where I'm going to put my PS3 & 360 games when I start getting them next month.

All my Jaguar, 3DO, & Dreamcast games are LaserLine towers too.

My Genisis cart's are in 7 custom wooden boxes that were out just for their games at that time (holds 24 games each). I also have 5 custom pull-drawer boxes that were out at the time for the N64 too(holds 24 cart's each.

The only right-sized shelving units I haven't found yet, are for all my damned bulky Saturn games, & I've had to put them in a huge cardboard box for now.

I was able to pick up these 6 games at a great cheapy price of only $29.(I've added a few of my 30-second reviews to some of them)

PS2

Evil Dead Regeneration
(2nd best one in this lot… Good zombie killing fun(can you say "chainsaw arm"?), plus some of the cutscenes & dialog are hilarious)

The Golden Compass
(haven't played it yet)

Hitman: Contracts
(haven't played yet))

Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen2(haven't tried this yet)

Savage Skies
(verrrrry interesting, riding dragons to kill or protect stuff)

Xbox

Darkwatch
(Best 1 of this lot…..More great old west styled zombie fun! So far, I love riding the red flaming eyed ghost horse, all the while turning side saddled to shoot horse riding zombies & dragon sized bat-looking zombies…OH YEAH!!!!

"Saint's Moneysaving Tip for buying used Gamestop games"

If you see a bunch of copies of that used game you've been looking for, make sure you check for the price on the sticker every single one of them, because I've found up $3 to $8 differences on the price stickers.

I think I must've saved over $70 on a ton of games so far this year alone just by finding a game that has a much lower price than all the same others one's sitting right next to it.
