Not having an official press release makes things a little hazy, and it doesn't help that this information comes from poorly translated details at a European gaming site. However, the picture is fairly clear, and the idea is quite plausible.
To celebrate the PlayStation 3's two-year anniversary in Europe, it seems that Sony is preparing to release a fantastic bundle for gamers who haven't yet made the next-gen leap. (source- PS3Life.nl) This package will feature the 80GB PS3, one Dual Shock 3 controller, and one copy each of Grand Theft Auto IV and Gran Turismo 5: Prologue , all for the agreeable price of 399.99 Euros. You're looking at two of the very best games of the generation – even if Prologue is technically a "demo" – and titles you would most certainly want to have in your new PS3 collection. If you're wondering why they're not featuring a Killzone 2 bundle, perhaps it's because they're targeting consumers who have missed out over the past couple of years, which also means they've missed out on great stuff like GTAIV and Prologue . Besides, wouldn't you just pick up KZ2 along with this bundle, anyway? We think Sony is betting on that. As for an official announcement, we'll keep an eye out for it, and if it does arrive, it'll include an exact availability date.
Bundle packages certainly help the manufacturer to sell more consoles, and we figure that based on the included software in this particular bundle, sales ought to spike. They're already going to experience a rise due to the KZ2 release; this GTAIV/Prologue bundle is like icing on the cake.
They should make a three year anniversary edition with the full GT5 instead (next year). I suppose that's not bad though for the price.

Amen!
or just give us GT5 this decade (not likely)
not going to lie, that is a rubbish deal
you can get the console and a game of your choice for that price
and the two games that come with it are dirt cheap now :S
yeah maybe two games that are going to be releasing around the time the anniversary bundle is released. i could always use another copy of KZ2.:D

oh and what is 399 euros in USD
I believe that would be about $500… so yeah, this doesn't seem like a great deal. You would be better off with the 160gb Uncharted bundle for the same price.
thats absurd.
Quite!

Yeah this isn't a great deal.
I'm wondering how much of a price difference there will be between Europe's regular 80gigger price & this new bundle????
so how much is the 80GB ps3 in Europe now?
Ben, I dig your little disclaimers at the beginning, don't listen to the naysayers!
Nice bundle for people stuck in the PS2 era. I wish I had a Dualshock 3, I just can't rationalize getting a controller if I had that kinda money for a game instead when my sixaxis still works fine.

Feel the same way, I don't have any additional Sony gadgets at the moment… just my 60GB (yay!) and the controller, and of course my games collection – which now totals about 16 games (including PSN titles)

Dumb! What if someone looking to buy a ps3 already has gtaiv for 360? Bundles should only have exclusives.
ditto!
i think they should have had Killzone 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4 in the bundle.
