Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay never came to a PlayStation platform, but the pseudo-sequel, Assault on Dark Athena, most certainly will. This sequel fused with a remake looks great, but if PlayStation 3 owners want a shot at the demo, they're gonna have to wait.
The 639MB demo hit Xbox Live today, but don't expect to see it arrive on the PSN tomorrow (when Sony typically issues their Store updates). Atari will only say it's "coming soon" in a recent press release, and according to VG247, an Atari UK representative couldn't confirm a date for the PSN demo. We're hearing great things about this demo already, which isn't exactly surprising as we remember the almost unparalleled greatness of Escape from Butcher Bay . Therefore, we're really hoping it hits the PSN sooner rather than later; we shouldn't have too long to wait, as the game is scheduled to release for the PS3, 360 and PC on April 24. Those who are interested and never played the original title should check out some old reviews, because this was a game that kinda crossed genre boundaries and remained entertaining from start to finish. Some will call it an FPS with both stealth and RPG elements, and you can expect the same from Assault on Dark Athena . Really, don't make snap judgments just 'cuz a Hollywood celebrity is involved.
Apparently, Vin Diesel is the only actor alive who can star in a great video game. We'd also include 50 Cent, but he falls more into the music category.
