Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay never came to a PlayStation platform, but the pseudo-sequel, Assault on Dark Athena, most certainly will. This sequel fused with a remake looks great, but if PlayStation 3 owners want a shot at the demo, they're gonna have to wait.
The 639MB demo hit Xbox Live today, but don't expect to see it arrive on the PSN tomorrow (when Sony typically issues their Store updates). Atari will only say it's "coming soon" in a recent press release, and according to VG247, an Atari UK representative couldn't confirm a date for the PSN demo. We're hearing great things about this demo already, which isn't exactly surprising as we remember the almost unparalleled greatness of Escape from Butcher Bay . Therefore, we're really hoping it hits the PSN sooner rather than later; we shouldn't have too long to wait, as the game is scheduled to release for the PS3, 360 and PC on April 24. Those who are interested and never played the original title should check out some old reviews, because this was a game that kinda crossed genre boundaries and remained entertaining from start to finish. Some will call it an FPS with both stealth and RPG elements, and you can expect the same from Assault on Dark Athena . Really, don't make snap judgments just 'cuz a Hollywood celebrity is involved.
Apparently, Vin Diesel is the only actor alive who can star in a great video game. We'd also include 50 Cent, but he falls more into the music category.

Damn microsoft and their times exclusives.
Its not a timed exclusive demo. The thing is xblv gets new content on wed and psn gets new content on thurs.
"but don't expect to see it arrive on the PSN tomorrow (when Sony typically issues their Store updates)"
I've been waiting for this game for a long, long time.
I don't have much money to gamble on whether or not a game is gonna be good, but this game has already proven to be a hit. I can't wait.
Demo or no Demo, I'm sold.
How much money you think Microsoft throws at Devs. to get exclusive early access to these games?
u know i really dont think they through money at ever single thing that comes earlier on 360
You're naive Godslim. Of course they do.
I have a solution to the problem.
If you are pissed at the 360 for getting early or exclusive stuff do this:
Buy a RROD 360 off of ebay or craigslist and call up Microsoft and tell them your 360 just died, they should replace it for you, and they should not ask for a receipt this is how my friend got his 2nd and 3rd 360 and then sold them and turned a profit, but watch out and make sure it is not modded because that is what cost him his 4th system. The people at customer service never asked for a receipt just for the serial number.
You can find a RROD unit for cheap if you play your cards right and then get it fixed free of charge and there you go cheap system that you can get early and exclusive games on. The only other thing you will need to do is buy a sub to Live.
If you can get a RROD 360 cheaply off of Craigslist and easily replace them through M$ft, then why are they being sold broken?
I would think someone would rather get the system replaced with a new one before they sell the system that way they can get more money for it.
Then, again… that's me using logic.
I know… Stupid me!
@Ben. Thanks for reporting the news for us. I do have to say one thing I am beginning to get really annoyed with these effin microsoft demos it's total bull sh** just a few weeks ago it was the highly anticiated Hawx now this??? Excuse me if my comment may sound like something from a fanboy which I am not. But come on if they spent the money that they spend on this stuff towards R&D and making a better system or better games, than this money wouldn't be thrown down the toilet. Excuse me for my rant.
It's amazing that in a multiplatform game the demo is a timed exclusive. It's just silly. The devs are forgetting the PS3's audience that has at least the same buying power than the 360's.
I'll wait for the demo of this game to come to the PSN, and if it don't arrive, I'll skip the game. Sad
I'm pretty busy with SF4, Killzone 2, MLB 09 and the RE5 demo (and later, the retail game) so right now, I'm not upset. I don't know how much it would cost to get a timed exclusive of a demo but I would rather Sony doesn't waste their money on timed exclusivity over demos. It will eventually arrive, maybe next week. Usually, timed demos are a week at the most. Besides, Starbreeze's first Riddick game was an Xbox exclusive. I guess they gave it to them to placate MS over losing another exclusive title.
Be patient, guys.

i cant wait for this one
Atari? Hmmm, Riddick? Does this really matter?
i cant believe microsoft buy timed demo exclusives. Someone pls tell me that im wrong and its just the developers
M$ is a smart company, well smart when it comes to business. Unfortunately the consumer suffers because of this.
Evidently they don't make the smartest decisions hence (millions to replace RROD's) That's my point.
Off Topic, Did anyone see on yahoo news that on his list of stuff that is not allowed in his house of superior gadgets is the iphone and ipod touch. I feel bad for his kids haha
Are you talking about Diesel or Billy?

@ ben
you said that vin diesel is the only actor alive that can star in a great game
a few examples: (many of whom were in GTA games)
jean reno – jaques blanc, onimusha 3
ray liotta – tommy vercetti, GTA vice city
burt reynolds – avery carrington, GTA vice city
phil collins as himself – vice city stories
pierce brosnan – 007 games
sean connery – 007 from russia with love
samuel l jackson – officer tenpenny, GTA san andreas
and many more
even though these are from some old games, it still shows that actors do sometimes lend their voices to great games
yeh there are loads of famous actors in videogames i could name more aswell
I'm aware of that. But besides Bond (which didn't need any particular actor to play the lead role, really), none of those actually had their entire likeness portrayed on screen as the lead character in a game.
Oh man,
hope we don't have to wait too much longer,
I LOVED the original, helped me regain my faith in movie-games (along with spider-man 2)
I liked the Riddick character but I promised myself due to money no more games until either White Knight Chronicles, FFXIII, or GoWIII.
Im sure I read on the official PS forums that the demo will be on the store tomorrow.
Diesel is awesome. Wish they'd make more Riddick movies. This Babylon AD just didn't cut it.
Developers will not forget the PS3 too quickly in the future when it surpasses the Xbot 360 in sales in the coming year… as I have said all along… it is only time…
Q!
"i am home"
Who cares if they get a demo a week sooner. How long do you play a demo for? 20 minutes, an hour. They're fun, and I like getting them, but I don't worry about when they come out. If MS is paying money for this, fine by me, what a waste.
