If you're not yet familiar with the concept of Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain …well, first of all, shame on you. Secondly, just to clarify, it's a dramatic thriller that gives the player a ton of freedom; your decisions will have a significant impact on the outcome of the story.
So how might they work downloadable content into such an intriguing concept? Well, thanks to a recent D+PAD interview , Quantic's David Cage says they have "many plans" for DLC, but at the same time, he believes in giving the consumer more bang for the buck. While additional content is always great, next-gen gamers have started to complain that some titles feel incomplete at launch, and the impending DLC should've been included with the release of the game. Cage appears to side with these folks by saying:
"Honestly, my focus is on putting as much content as possible on the Blu-ray. We have many plans for DLC, but I won’t work on them until the game is finished and fully satisfying. Games are expensive; my focus is to give as much as I can to gamers for their money."
See, now this is a sentiment that's likely going to gain plenty of appreciation from those who view DLC capabilities as a potential dodge for developers. Maybe they can rush the game out to hit their announced release date, and make up for the rush job by issuing content that should've initially been in the game at a later date. Well, you won't have to worry about that in regards to Heavy Rain . So, DLC is coming, but certainly not at the expense of the final product.

Ya… Make a complete game, and then add the DLC. Hopefully, the game will feel like an complete game so there will be no argument.
this games looks awesome,a good story based adult thriller,i loved farenheit.
When the hell is this game being released?i seem to remember the gameplay trailer stating spring 2009 so that would put it at March-May.
november for sure, they had some hints in the trailer they released awhile back
Hope it comes this year. Definitely looking forward to this one.
Sounds like a top bloke
Sounds like good business to me II think dlc is always a plus but if the game isn't complete why even talk about dlc its taking them forever to finish this game.

With your actions reflecting the story talk about replay-ability! I imagine it would be safe to say its released would be Q3 if not Q4.
when is it coming.
Soon, up your arse!
but yes i agree, DLC should be made after a games released not while its in development, destroys the point really
lol I agree with u
Holy Crap! I think this means there is a dev out there who is trying to make a rock solid game at launch and then enhance it with the advent of DLC instead of put bandaids on things that should not need covering!
Novel idea that all devs should adopt.
We should all thank burnout and their neverending free dlc (that's over now but it was fun),now devs know how to keep their games off the gamestop used shelf

Go David Cage! My respect for him has increased a lot. Not that I never did in the first place =D
I am really going to enjoy this game, I can see it coming. Because, I love games like these.
good on you David Cage, we need more devs with this attitude. Loved Fahrenheit so I'm looking forward to this.
Wow! What the heck is the DLC gonna be? Extra acts/scences? More characters? Huh, costumes??? IDK, but Heavy Rain was a must-cop in my book early last year.
I am curious Ben , are we actually going to 'solve' the crime or just take part in interactive scenes that hold our hand all the way through ?
Developers that cut up the original game for DLC should be burnt at stake . I am lookin at you Eidos .
Couldn't they add the DLC with the retail copy of the game as part as the game and not the add-on.
Seems to me with all this opportunity to download content for these games, developers are leaving out content just for something for us to pay and download.
GTA IV DLC could've been included in the retail version instead of being a xbox live exclusive. No thanks to DVD.
Well this cage guy gets it and I fully intend to support his game and will be pre-ordering it as soon as Amazon makes it available for me to do so.
I am so happy to hear this. This will be my first time buying DLC.
Hey Ben, why don't you try and interview David Cage? 😉
