Okay, Final Fantasy fans, clarification time.
As most of you already know, the Blu-Ray version of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children releases in April in Japan, and it'll feature an extra 25 minutes of new scenes plus all-new cinematography. It will also ship with a playable demo of Final Fantasy XIII , which was the biggest part of this announcement at E3 last year. But some of you have asked whether or not this Japanese release will have English voices, and if it will even play on North American PS3s. Well, Siliconera and FinalFantasyXIII.net have provided the answer: it's "yes" to both questions. As an additional note of intrigue, Blu-Ray region coding isn't the same as DVD; while the latter has 6 different regions, Blu-Ray only has A, B, and C. The good news is that both North America and Japan fall under the "A" classification, so all Blu-Ray discs released in either region will play in the other region, too. Therefore, if you do plan on importing this bad boy, don't you be concerned about any of this; everything will all work out just fine. …even if you do hate Square-Enix.
Personally, I'm honestly considering an import. I have the movie on DVD, of course, but the idea of this CGI masterpiece on Blu-Ray…well, it kinda gives me chills.
Who cares?
I won't pay for this garbage
Never even cared 'bout this spinoff movie either
I'd rather spend my money on real games like Killzone 2!!! Bring it on!
Demo? lol as if the game is coming anytime soon.
Late 2010 for the US.

Garbage? Garbage?!! If you don't like it fine it's your loss, but this my friend is the greatest piece of CGI to ever grace a TV. Show some respect.
This Garbage is the way Im going to play Final Fantasy 13 before all of you here. So c'mon man, no harsh words. Anyway, Im looking forward to our rematch in Street Fighter 4 soon. 🙂
Ben, your kind of misleading people with this article.
"What has confused fans debating importing it is whether or not the Japanese version of the movie will have English voices, and if it'll even play on North American PS3s. The answer is yes to both. As noted in the Siliconera report, the voice actor for Rufus Shina posted on his blog mid-December that he was called back to the studio to redo some lines as Rufus, as well as some new lines for the additional scenes."
The MOVIE will have English dubs, not the DEMO.
…what? At no point did I say the demo would have English voices.
Pretty cool, although the movie was pretty awful.
Wasn't really hating on the game, just its release date, so Squeeeenix won't be getting my money on a demo.
PS: Was hating more on the movie, the movie sucked imo.
True Ben,the title got me thinking everything including the demo is in English as well as Japanese.
Im sorry, but the title does not mention the demo, just the film. Besides, you read the article, yeah? Clarified in no time, so no need to bitch and moan. He didn't have to let us know.
And Japan and Euro in the same region for DVDs anyway, so should work in PAL PS3s too.
Both Scarecrow and I were talking about the movie. I don't think the article was confusing at all.
Cool I'm considering importing this, but after KZ2, MGS4 (I'm sorry please don't hurt me T.T, I only got my PS3 last October for my 15h birthday, I'm trying to play catch-up while buying the latest and greatest) and possibly one more DS3, making 3 controllers!
Cuz I need lots for my friends and siblings.
Yea the demon would be kinda nice… but I don't care much for the movie.
But if it was a KH3 demo I would be all over that!
Too bad SE keeps d*cking me over 🙁
Woah! What demon?!?!?! 😛
How do I import this? If anything is worth importing from Japan it's this… and girls.
lol…
I'd take the girls any day…
Google National Console Support (I've used them for years. Peter is a good guy.) or Play Asia (used them once to order an Asian copy of Siren PS3 for $20).
Oh hell…
ncsx dot com
play-asia dot com
There, I did the work for you. ;O

Awwwwwwww shucks….
I'm blushing. 😉
The CGI in Advent children is top notch I give then that, but with Advent its more about the dynamic style that the Japanese do so well even with all their anime. However
Pixar hold the title for most advanced CGI movies to date. Pixar has done alot of innovation to the CG industry and even to video games.
I perfer the "High Definition" Animation style tho, like Vexille and Appleseed: Ex machina.
I too have Advent on DVD. I've been waiting a long time for the Blu-ray release.
Now I just wish Pixar would do the same with the rest of their film catalog. WALL-E is stunning in HD.
Presonally. i HATE the idea of CGI used in anime. it ruins the whole idea of it, and looks crappy.
I can't wait to get this.
When does the rest of the world get it? and we dont get the FFXIII demo aye?
Well Akuma, what about Ghost in the Shell? I thought they did an awesome job with CG and anime. Its my fav anime, too!
ghost in the shell aint my cup of tea =]
okay okay. i dont HATE it persay. but i think it looks better when they dont use it. animes like the Gundam, and Gasaraki series look awesome.
best way for me to explain my feelings about it, is that i think it looks "out of place".
but thats just me. everyone is different.
wait… does this mean the demo is translated to english? or the blu-ray movie has english subtitles/english voices?
movie
What about english subtitles? I hate when they try and translate the voices, it looks all wrong…
i thought english subtitles was already confirmed like around the time they made it? not sure but i'm pretty pos it has subs
Sweet, then it's a definite buy for me!
Awesome! On blue ray daaam. Worth the import and the girls girls girls.
I had the dvd version but lost it in a trip, though I was a bit disappointed with the movie except for the awsome music. the only reason I would get this is for the demo but like most of us my hype for ff13 is slowly crumbling.
Great movie, no matter what some haters say, but I won't import it because if they aren't cool enough to give the demo to the pimps out here who have supported them just as long as the pimps over there then eff them in the A. Plus I don't want to spoil a good game with a demo I can't understand. I probly will get FFVIIAC on Blu Ray when it hits here, demo or no.
i agree with you 100%
there is no point in getting the demo if you can't read/understand japanese
and i can't see how some people hate the movie.
it was awesome!!!! i mean yeah there were some things they could have done better, but those arguments go away when you watch it.
Ben, gotta ask. Does a Hong Kong PS3 fall on the same category?
just google bluray region map

I really don't know, but I'm guessing it doesn't. It's part of Asia, so…
AC on Blu-ray is gonna be an orgasm on your screen….except without the sticky mess afterwards.
seeems like the best Blu-ray deal yet, and extened version of the film and an FFXIII demo, im defiantly getting it.
will want to get it when price is cut. I hv the DVD limited edition already, not gonna spend another 60 dollars or so for the same thing. but will get when price is down.
As a hardcore Final Fantasy 7 lover I have yet to see this film. Shame on me! I guess its time to make a move when I import this Blu Ray.
and you call yourself a lover lol … get this movie, it's amazing.
Ben do u know if it works for Europe too?
Woot 🙂
