These days, the U.S. gets most of the fantastic titles available, which is why we'll be seriously miffed if we don't get Yakuza 3 .
Of course, we got each of the last two installments on the PS2, but each North American release was almost a full year behind the Japanese release, which means we may have a long wait for Yakuza 3 for the PlayStation 3. It launches next week, February 26, in Japan, so we might not see it until 2010 in the U.S.; hell, Sega hasn't even confirmed the game would break Japanese borders yet. But if we can rely on Famitsu's review score, we're going to hope for that announcement: the region's most popular gaming magazine awarded the third entry a 10, 10, 9, and 9, which results in a total score of 38/40. Now, you shouldn't get too excited, as Yakuza 2 netted a 37/40 and clearly, that excellence didn't really translate to American review standards. Even so, we have to admit to being encouraged, and we often said to ourselves when playing past titles, "damn, this could be awesome on the PS3." Really, Yakuza 3 is going to be a bad-ass action title, and one you should definitely consider.
Well, provided it comes to North America, and it should . Unfortunately, while it's only a matter of time, that "matter of time" could be quite lengthy. Just cross your fingers, folks.
Related Game(s): Yakuza 3
is it multiplatform in Japan?
Don't joke around like that lol. Sega is no Square Enix. I am impressed by the quality of games Sega have been releasing lately(sonic exclude).

sorry, I was being serious. This hasn't been on my radar at all.
I knew Yakuza 2 was on the ps2 but wasnt sure if this one was exclusive. Especially cause it is developed by Sega – a large third party developer. There are not too many third party exclusives these days.
wtf no?
Well worth it, I want this game sooo bad i wish Sega would localize it:(
I never played the others, what's it comparable to?
So, when is it coming here?
btw, that shot is not from Yakuza 3.

I just can't trust Famitsu scores
neihter, Haze got 36 or something didnt it?
Yes!!! I was waiting for this game since it was announced in the Tokyo Game Show last year!!! Now it receives 38 from Famitsu, now I am for sure getting this game when I go back to Japan. Ahhh, I'm so excited now!!!
Is it me or does it seem like we are reverting back to the days of Japan having ALL the good PS games and NA/EU has to wait months for release?
White Knight Chronicles, Monster Hunter, Demon's Souls, Street Fighter 4(not much of a wait there), and now Yakuza 3. Whatever happened to globalization??? I thought the world was getting flatter.

Hey, a double post by the King?
=D
Oooops, my bad. It's not deleting.
I got an idea. Since I recently copped Shadow of the Colossus, I thinking like a month b4 this game releases in America, I'll go buy Yakuza 1 & 2. I never played them and I think I'll appreciate Yakuza 3 more if I play its predecessors.
Has anybody play Yakuza 1 & 2? Are they any good?

I'm starting to think I missed out on something by not playing 1 & 2. Maybe I should give them a try, they've always looked interesting.
Alienange u should give it a try, the gameplay is like shenmue on the dreamcast.
psu.com said there will be a demo on japan store. heck yeah
I'm playing Yakuza 1 right now and I'm enjoying it a lot. Like rell said; playing does remind me of Shenmue. It also has rpg elements and lots of sidequest. You should try it out I got it new at Gamestop for $20.
I just don't feel like Famitsu has any credibility at all. Hope to see Y3 get some high scores from other publications.

Picking up White Knight Chronicles, Demon's Souls, Yakuza III, Ryu Ga Gotoku Kenzan, Tears to Tiara, Cross Edge, Way of the Samurai 3, and Battle Fantasia for the PS3 and Dissida, Tenchu 4, and Kenka Banchou 3 for the PSP, as well as a handful of PS2 games, from NCSX next week.
I was also picking up Patapon 2, but with the game now coming to the U.S. in May now I don't have to import the game.
I also have a larger PS2 import order for a bunch of older games I didn't pick up because I stopped buying imports these past few years due to my engagement/marriage.
I'm back in full swing now.
JHC, they need to bring this to America.I am tired of hearing news on a title I'll possibly never play.
Why even post articles about Famitsu review scores?
Never played any yakuza games I always heard good things about them I guess I gotta keep a eye on this one
