DICE Announces Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Last year, Swedish developer DICE really came into their own, as both Battlefield: Bad Company and Mirror's Edge turned out to be excellent and entertaining productions.  Some of you are clamoring for a sequel to the latter, but while you wait, how's about a sequel to the former?

As you can see by this official announcement , Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is in the works. A direct follow-up to the original, you can expect more in the way of slam-bang FPS action and that great Bad Company panache. You will be able to utilize many different weapons and vehicles, and according to that announcement, it appears we'll have even more in the way of "vehicular warfare." While the FPS genre has quickly become one of the most competitive categories in the video game world, especially with the imminent release of Killzone 2 , we have complete faith in this developer.  We didn't really give the original Bad Company much credit before it released, and it turned out to be one of the year's best. And if you give DICE enough time to clean up and iron out a few of the kinks, a sequel could be yet another awesome title. As for Mirror's Edge 2 , there has been no announcement, and we figure DICE is putting all their emphasis on producing the Battlefield sequel.

So as of now, we'll start scanning around for new details and media concerning Bad Company 2 , and hopefully, we'll see an estimated release date before too long. It's very possible that it could arrive in time for the 2009 holiday season…

This is good news. I played through the campaign three times and had fun each time. Definitely one of the better FPS out there.

Great story, fun gameplay and really good looking presentation. OH and some of the best weapon sounds out there.

I'll keep my eye on this one. But for now we will have KZ2.

Here's hoping they keep the original cast. Funny stuff and great characters. Haggard, Sarge, Sweetwater and Preston. And they didn't get in your way when playing.

i loved the characters in single player.

most NPC dialogue isnt that great these days, but i thought they were hilarious.
haggard and his freakin truckasoarus.

also one of the most fun FPS games ive played in awhile.
it felt good to play, and blowing things up has never sounded/felt so good in any FPS ever.

well its good that they didnt get in the way, but i would have liked more involvment. i know that you as the player are supose to do alot but youd think that if they put in friendly AI they would do….more……..like anyhting would help.

Awesome.
I do hope they add clan support though.
I also hope they keep the XM8 as beastly as it is.

Thanks for confirmation. Can't wait for it, still playing the first one like a maniac. I'm on my 10th playthrough now (literally), but it's the first time on Hard. Really fun, I might add.

Bad company 2 will be great if it has better online support.

The game itself was awesome, but i bought the game for multiplayer. It didnt even have private matches at launch. BF2 had epic multiplayer. But there was no parachute and the ranks were eas to unlock. It was not a true battlefield experience with its lackluster multiplayer.
/rant sorry lol

1080p? minus the fact that the only supported HD video output is 720p?

Bought the first one and haven't even tried it yet. Heard good things though so I'm completely stoked about getting into it. Gotta finish all my looting in F3 first though…

the first one was a VERY fun game, great engaging storyline, lots of interesting personalities, good visuals, good sound…but lacking in the multiplayer dept (seemed like a throw-in mode)…definitely picking this one up though

Didn't like the first one. Doubt the second would be any better.

Quite enjoyed this game. each level had quite a large map so you could pretty much choose how you could complete the objective. for example on the golf course level i quite enjoyed hopping in the golf buggy and trying to dodge the tanks.great entertainment!

on the same point has anyone managed to do the gold course in a golf buggy as i tried it several times but the AI it seems get too accurate towards the end. maybe the developers don't want this and force you to use the tanks.

Great to hear about a sequel, as I feel this game was overlooked by too many gamers. But am I the only person who ALWAYS had mic issues? All my friends did too (and not just when we were playing together). They never worked.

Hey, PS3.. here's an idea.. how about making a damn game thats.. (gasps) NOT A FIRST PERSON SHOOTER. For the love of god already.. talk about a 1 trick pony.. I bought my PS3 18 months ago, "because of all the sweet RPG's that would be coming out.." Seems like every 2 out of 3 games released is a FPS.. and as for that third game.. it usually sucks. Come on already, how many more FPS's do we have to wade thru in order to get 1 GOOD racing game? 1 good RPG? 1 good ANYTHING that doesnt require a damn first person viewpoint?seriously.. WTF?
