The more we see and hear about God of War III , the more we consider performing a daring raid on SCEA headquarters to locate any piece of new information available. If you hadn't noticed, the third and final entry will represent quite the leap from the stellar PS2 installments.
According to what SCEA Santa Monica's concept artist Cecil Kim recently wrote on his blog, the team is merely implementing ideas that sprang up during the development of the first two GoW titles. Wrote Kim:
"Things that I am excited about GOWIII is that we are introducing so many new gameplay mechanics that were initially pitched during the production of God of War I,II. And of course some were designed by talented GOW III level/combat designers. Some ideas being too ambitious to be executed years ago, only remain in our heads. Now I see Kratos doing things that were from our wish list; wow, we came a long long way to make this one all come together.
This is what the game making is all about and how it's different from other forms of entertainment I think. It takes years to step closer to make things happen, and when it happens, You get to play it. Looking good is another thing, it needs to play better first, and I am just blown by how much stuff we are packing in the game."
As if you haven't seen it enough already, we turn you back to the recently revealed Epic Scale Trailer , which has literally swept the gaming world. Just remember Kim's words when viewing it: it's the result of many years of creativity and imagination, and things can take quite a while to come to fruition. So by the time you're seeing awesome stuff like this video, a bunch of people somewhere have already been slaving over it for years. Well, this probably only applies to huge blockbuster projects like God of War III , but then again, what other types of games are in the limelight? Just give credit where credit's due; that's all we're saying. Oh, and if you're still not convinced about that trailer being real-time, Kim clarifies further:
"Everything runs on the game engine. This trailer is all done in-house and every art assets also in-game models."
Just…wow.

As much as game development is a dream job for me; I won't forgo the countless times I've heard game makers say how stressful of a job it is

T.T Thank you Ben for providing this awesome news.
And it's not even polished yet =)
Gow III is good business II wonder how much the budget was this game is going to sell 2 .5 mill the 1st week guaranteed.
DAY ONE, TEN DAYS OFF FROM WORK, NO REAL-LIFE!
That's my list for GoWIII. Pinched down till I squeeze every living hell out of the game.
I guess no other game deserves our attention more than GoW III 😀
SCEA at work!
Just beautiful
This is the kind of stuff David Jaffe was referring to. SCEA and SCE in general gives their devs chances to create great games.
I've also noticed it is getting more recognition now vs the shorter trailer at CES. I can't believe we have to wait so much longer but I don't think anyone will take their work for granted.
Yeah, tbh I wasn't really blown away by the Spike VGA trailer and just happy with some new info on GoW III but the Epic Scale trailer literally gave me goosebumps!! 😀
Yes, it is moving art… I commented about "Why We need a PS4!"; whilst I would still buy one should it be released… again GoWIII proves that PS3 does have a decent amount of grunt under the hood.
Q!
"i aM hOMe"
I pray they put up a demo around E3 and TGS because this is what gaming is all about. I can't believe I haven't played anything from this legendary story except the demo for the PSP installment which I might add was amazing for a demo. It doesn't matter now because i'm getting them all now.
I find it funny how people don't complain that this one is taking a few years to complete. It's been two years since the last one and it's been just a little over two years since the last Final Fantasy and everybody is going ballistic over FF taking longer. FF is a much larger and complex game yet people aren't giving them any credit.
Gow3 was started 6 months after gow2 was released, ff13 was started when the first build of ps3 was released to developers. And is not that we are not giving the team thats developing 13 credit, we are complaining at square enix for various reason, not just how many times they haved delayed 13 but also what derections they have taken it to. In short we are complaining about the way they are handling there business, and the fact that there is yet to be a single game developed by SE for ps3 while others platform get very different treatment, even though the vast majority of SE loyalist also happen to be ps loyalist.
People are going ballistic on FF13 cuz SE has officially changed the way they do things. FF13 went multi-platform, a first for the FF franchise, which is over 20 years old. And SE has continuously delayed the game, although they stated that they're almost complete, and that they only need to translate it to english here for the rest of the world.
That's the simplistic reason tho, other people can give u essays lol
Jackie Chan, he's our man.. if he can't do it, Kratos 'certainly' can!
😉 Cool huh?
Final Fantasy Flashback:
The concept artist [for God of War III] is named Cecil.
o_O
u are funny banky A
Wow XD thats nice…
A creative mind is definately needed, especially for the myth to game games.
I don't care how long it takes. As long as we get a polished and great playing game. GOW games always make you feel like a bad-ass.
If this is done by next March I say that is a remarkable feat by the programers.

MGS4, Killzone2, Uncharted 2, GOW3, GT, Heavy Rain…
Is there anyone here who believes these games would be done justice on the 360 hardware?
The PS3 is now truly differentiating itself from the 360!
I can't imagine MGS, Gran Turismo or God of War in my wildest dreams (though it'll be a nightmore) being a Microsoft title.
They have Sony PlayStation (literally) written all over them!
=D
Hey does I'm The Man keep thumbing down 'my' comments? =D
Hah.
This doesn't surprise me. I think GT takes more time in their development.
Average of 6 months to create one car and I think 1 year to create one track. But that was from when they started creating GT for the ps3 from scratch. As they figure things out, I think that time has decreased.
If they're shooting for around 700 cars at that rate, then they wont be done till the year 2,354. But of course they have teams, so maybe 2015-ish.
All the ps3 exclusives are great, but I don't think any of them takes as long as GT5. So I consider GOWIII's development time decently, fast when compared to GT.
I don't think even Gran Turismo takes that long.
=D
I want to play this game now XD dang… I wish time went faster 🙁 haha
