It'll probably sell to Google for a hundred trillion dollars in a few months time, and everyone on the planet will be "tweeting" at each other for all eternity. Well, if we keep getting major news leaks like this, maybe we won't complain…
Some time ago, a Newsweek's video game correspondent reported that the sixth Call of Duty installment would be a direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare . Apparently, the word came from a "closed-door briefing." Activision never did confirm it, but we've got even more evidence now: as GameSpot noted, Infinity Ward's director of communications and community manager Robert Bowling's may have spilled the beans. If you check out his Twitter page , you will see the entry in question; it reads: "Reviewing some radio-chatter VO we just finished recording for Modern Warfare 2 today. 'Cujo Two-One this is Vulture, solid copy on all.'" Yep, that just about confirms the game in our eyes, regardless of Activision's mute denial. Look, Modern Warfare sold 7.6 million copies and generated $414 million in the U.S. alone . Obviously, it's now a recognizable – and respected – name, and it only makes sense that Infinity Ward would want to capitalize on the original's success.
We'll let you know whenever the official press release arrives, but at this point, it's probably safe to say that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is in the works.

Sweet, Im glad they are definetley continuing the Modern Warfare series. Im soooo bored of WWII shooters.
I want more missions for the US Army,the SAS is great but it should be the other way round this time around.
Maybe UN peacekeepers vs African rebels this time.
Hope this doesn't also get stuck in ps3's,since many people have cod4 trapped in their YLOD ps3's.

hmm… i heared IW is sticking to modern… But, has anyonewondered why theres a ray gun in Call of duty:WAW in both zombie mode, and in a few missions (jump in all the craters on the beach of little resistance from far right towards far left, you'll hear voices and things will pop up and give yu rayguns…) i think it's because Treyarchs next stab at cod will be futuristic… why else put this easter egg out there.. it doesnt fit with world war 2..
It's probably just, an Easter-egg.

The ray gun is there as a homage to old 50s sci fi movies… I don't think it can be construed as to where they are going to take the franchise next. It's meant to complement the already-out-of-place zombie mode.

Yeah the IW guys were probably smoking some pretty Fiya Bud and just added the ray gun as a joke.
This game better kick some serious ass. They've got that other game [who I will not name] to compete with. I think it's gonna be tough to top with a multi-plat.
Hopefully, modern warfare is back for good, and the WWII scenario is DEAD and BURRIED.

played the single player mode in cod4 and thought it was short but sweet(finished cod3 in a single day and thought that was lame)
never got into the online because it did not belong to me & i hate liking something only to have to give it back.
i'm sure this game will rock but something tells me we're looking at a 6-8 hour campaign,hopefully i'm totally wrong.
ps.Cod4's ending was cinema style gold,forking spectacular 🙂
Yea Online is crazy bcoz some people are freaks and play it all day but the campaign is sweet. its sooo cool at the end and yep more a PS3 style finish i'd say

i managed to complete COD5 in one day but i love the fact they keep the story mode short and sweet and have you banging on the online mode mints after finishing the story mode.
I want Modern Warfare to hit the damned greatest hits list.

i dnt get it every 1st person shooter gets sooo much attention and is loved even though games like GRID, Uncharted go unseen and PS eye games are the best things i've ever seen

Grid is Awesome and so is Uncharted. But what do you play using the PS Eye?
Yeah, you gotta hip me to the whole PS Eye thing. I thought of getting one just for the video chat functionality, but figured it wasn't worth the money since it doesn't have many games to use it with.
I use the PS Eye for the virtual aquarium feature. Looks good in 1080p.
Hm, funny. I thought Activision was clearly quoted as mentioning that Modern Warfare 2 was going to be hitting in their current (or would it be their next?) fiscal year.
I think it was during some press call not too long ago.r

We actually knew that COD6 was going to be MW2. And as wikipedia and some other places state the game should come on Q4 or around December, remember activision said they want a COD game once a year.
I actually bought CODMW last week. Stuck to it since..also downloaded the Killzone demo..i prefer COD so far.But im well aware demos arent everything! Also..why isnt there a compatabilty to cross play multiplatform games?? Id love nothing more then to shoot up some 360 owners..mwahaha!
