PS3 Exclusive Under Siege Revealed

The list of upcoming PlayStation 3 exclusives is awfully impressive, but it's time to add another one to the list: it's called Under Siege , a new strategy title by Seed Studios.

As PSU reports, the game is in the "pre-alpha" stages and is being built from the ground up specifically for Sony's machine. Here's one of the freshly released pics, and if you're a RTS fan, you should realize two things: 1. there aren't that many titles in this genre these days, and 2. as the very first RTS developed just for the PS3, it should be worthy of your attention. Said Seed Studios Lead Designer Bruno Ribeiro:

"Under Siege features an original world, unique gameplay elements and a control scheme designed with a console controller in mind. We are also working on implementing a large number of multiplayer and community features with special emphasis on user generated content."

There are plenty of great titles on the horizon, but how many of them fall into the strategy genre? There was a time, about a decade ago, when PC users counted RTSs as a major source of entertainment, but these days…well, action/adventure has basically taken over the entire industry. But those of you who still wish to flex some tactical brain muscle ought to be pretty psyched about Under Siege . …and no, it has no relation to Steven Seagal's best movie.

I was just on PSU this minute looking at their article about this game, just before Johns article went up.
I like RTS games, screenshots look sharp. I hope this works on a console.

The problem with console RTS games is that there just aren't enough buttons to have a hotkey-fest. I'm curious to see how they get around this.

Reading the comments on the devs diary on the games site. Apparently this will be a PSN game.

I think 'Marked for Death' is Segal's best movie.

I hope this isnt the ps3 exclusive game which EGM was advertising last month. I was hoping for the new Team ICO game…

lol, was thinking the same thing when I saw the title…."could only be a yoman or a cook" all that cause he "punched out his comanding officer"…..Got to love the seagal movies…Glimmer man was top also (in a kind of geriactric seagal styley :-), I think he actually kicked a guys leg off from the knee in that movie.

I agree. Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2 ruled. I still play them every now and then. Hoping they make a part 3.

I still play RTS on my PC a lot. Sins of a Solar Empire rocks. Can't wait for Dawn of War 2 to arrive.

As I've mentioned before, unless this one has mouse and keyboard support, I don't see any reason to pick it up. Does look nice though.

It wont have K/M support.

it IS being built ground up for a console.

there would be no point putting so much time into making a controller oriented control scheme, then giving the option to use K/M

as it should be.
like ive said here before, console games should never support K/M. well, ones with Multiplayer support.

I noticed him for the first time about a month or two ago. He's a regular, he just doesn't write as many articles as Ben.
