It's certainly one of the most promising and anticipated PlayStation 3 exclusives of the year, and Sucker Punch has been talking about their progress with inFamous . Thanks to a recent PSU interview, we've learned of a few intriguing details, most of which ought to excite the action/adventure fan in all of us. And hey, don't be surprised if you detect a significant note of originality…
After speaking with Sucker Punch's Brian Fleming, it first becomes clear that the team's primary focus is on the gameplay. Basically, Fleming says the gameplay "is the hardest part to implement" and they don't "start writing the storyline" until much later in the process. Some may believe this could hinder the plot, but Fleming says people are often surprised at the "well integrated and cohesive storylines" that Sucker Punch's titles typically boast. It's merely a matter of attacking the most important and most difficult aspect of the project first. Next up is a subject we certainly wanted more clarification on, and that's the idea of a free-roaming world, somewhat similar to GTA. It'll be more linear in inFamous , of course, but your decisions will still have a definite impact. Said Fleming in response to the question, "How much impact do your actual choices have throughout the simulated world?":
"It effects the story and a lot of other things. I’ll speak to most of those closer to launch. However, at a micro-level it effects the individual regions of the city. If you start to trash, say, the neon part of the city, the people will hate you and form mobs to come after you. Wanted posters will pop up and every time you venture into that area, you’ll be a target for abuse. However, on the flip side, you can also be a savior to another side of the city, such as the slums. Speaking directly about the narrative, it’s influenced by the choices you make to an extent. Also, your powers are influenced based on your decisions as well."
Fleming goes on to say that absolutely everything in this particular virtual world will be "scalable." In other words, "every pipe, every gutter, every window frame, every fire escape, and everything you can think of within the game can be climbed." That's a damn cool idea and as far as we're concerned, this game is shaping up very nicely. It's the combined dose of originality with awesome features that have proven most popular in the past; inFamous ought to turn a lot of heads.

I just can't wait for this game. Hopefully it will be really good!
yeah i hope this game is awesome.. i'm buyimg this
game on the first day…
only thing that worries me is that i hope theres alot to do after the story line, like gta you can mess around with cars and all that
thats the only hesitation i have, should still be great tho
yeah, I hope it's not like Assassin's Creed. That game I loved, but pissed me off when I beat the story, because, well.. you're done!

what pissed me off was burnout paradise. great game, but it takes a lot too pick it up and start playing some times. it just feels boring. but if you remember the fun from events by doing them more often, for fun rather than the licences, the game is playable. and now there's tonnes of updates.
BP is a good example too, but like you said, with the number of addons they have now, the game is still fun. I think Assassin's Creed should have taken some notes from them!

this is a must have game 🙂
I am going to climb the taller buildings , jump from the roof , power up on my way down and cause a massive pile of destruction as I land . Time well spent .
sounds exactly why this game was made, lols.
I like these games because you really get two games for the price of one, once I go through it as a good guy then I replay as an evil dude.
seems like a good idea.
yeah the story often suffers, but I like to weigh the good and the bad properly. Fallout 3's main plot wasn't fantastic but it was never meant to be the star of the show, so it's still my 08 game of the year.
In love with this game!
It's fast, you can climb around anything, use electricity like a madman, comic-book like bosses!
This is one of those games which will shock everyone, I can tell(pun intended)
this games gonna be somethink else
i really hope after you complete it
you can just roam and do w.e !
I've been wondering for a while now, is this game going to be only singleplayer? If they implement some kind of multiplayer I'll be very intrigued.
Edit: Woops, just looked at the preview for it on this site. Got my answer. Wish it was multiplayer!

when is the release date
"Spring 2009"
ahh more stuff to look forward to.. I love my PS3 (physically?)
I have a co-worker 360 devotee who's MORE interested in this for the PS3 than any other game…more than KZ2 ("Eh…another shooter!") or Gears of War 2 ("More like Gears of War 1.5!"). I hope it turns out great, but I've seen a LOT of glitchiness in a lot of the vids out there for this…old OR recent!
God I hope this doesn't turn out to be another Haze
I have faith in inFamous. Sucker punch said they made the gameplay first, then built the story around it. So it ought to be fun.
I wonder if everything means everything in terms of climbing. In Assassin's Creed, you could climb on anything inside the cities, but you still had so sneak in through the one damn gate instead of scaling the walls.
