Whenever the economy slows, people tighten their belts, which often means passing on luxuries they would've normally purchased. Now, while the latest numbers all but prove that the video game industry is nigh-on recession-proof, everyone can certainly use a few good bargains.
Over the next week, you may wish to go shopping for some top-quality titles you missed in 2008. Best Buy is offering several great game deals, and you can pick up Far Cry 2 for only $29.99, Call of Duty: World at War for $49.99, Prince of Persia for $39.99, and Pure for $29.99. Those are some fantastic deals for some fantastic games; paying half the original price for the likes of Far Cry 2 and saving $20 on Prince of Persia ought to intrigue you. When you're done taking advantage of those deals, head on over to Amazon.com, where you can pick up a Dual Shock 3 controller for $42.99 and the PS3 Blu-Ray remote control for only $19.99. Just because you may not have as much money in your wallet these days doesn't mean you should deprive yourself of great entertainment, and you can really make a good haul if you check around this week. These are only a few of the deals at Best Buy and Amazon, too, so make sure you peruse about.
We're all hoping for a PS3 price drop at some point this year, and while the rumors range from spring to fall, most agree it will definitely come in 2009. Perhaps Sony will issue the cut along with a major exclusive release… We'll keep you posted.
I will definitely purchase Far Cry 2, at $30 it's a steal. I own the rest of the stuff you mentioned except Pure, and that game did not appeal to me.
Thanks for the info!

I'm crawlin down to get me a copy too. booyah!
Probably prefer Motorstorm 2
Is this site sponsored by Amazon?
No. We may have run Amazon ads in the past (I don't remember), but we're not continually sponsored by Amazon.
"not continually sponsored by Amazon"?
Ive got no problems with advertising, people need to pay the bills I suppose, but maybe a disclaimer to let people know which particular articles are sponsored would be a good way to show transparency with the public.
Hey bud, I've been coming here enough to know that they don't, never have and never will run an article because their sponsors asked them too. He's just pointing out some good gaming deals for fellow gamers who are struggling through a tough economy.
HAHAHAHAHAHA
chiko.
its just telling people who are looking for good deals, where to get them from.
im sure if ANY other stores site had great deals, they would tell us aswell.
dont get your knickers in a knot.
Oh man, Chicko, you are just so clever and so cool! Your disrespectful tone and negative attitude leads me to believe that you are better than me and everyone else! I wish I could be as cool as you someday!
-Arvis
Arvis face it man none of us will ever be worthy
chicko is probably jaded because most gaming sites have a high douchefactor. This site is the exception though, he probly just doesn't know that yet.
I bought Pure from Amazon for 19.99 after Thanksgiving, but haven't played much of it, I rented Far Cry and it doesn't appeal to me at all. 🙁
Who is John Shepard and why isn't he listed in staff?
John Shepard:
-The main character in Stargate: Atlantis.
-The default name for the main character in Mass Effect.
It's secretly Ben 🙂
I love amazon. every once in a while the price of the DS3 will drop to 39.99, and I usually buy one. I have 5. I don't even use 1 of em. I also buy tons of HDMI cables on there, I just hand em out to people when they get an HDTV, and they light up when I tell them I only paid $5 for them. I have 1 cable here and I just got 3 for 8.99 from another site.
you're a generous dude
I find it strange how cables sell for $60+ at various electronics stores, yet they cost $5 on Amazon…
I know, and I've read a couple articles online that compare those $90 and up monster cables to the $5-$10 fare you find on monoprice and amazon. There was either no difference, or, for one guy, the monster cables actually performed worse than the cheapies.
Most people give me money, my sister insisted because I saved her over $200, since she needed HDMI cables for her DVD player, HD-DVR and reciever. Her setup is sick, but she doesn't play videogames so in my eyes its a waste.
alright it's official I need new friends.
I'll be accepting applications starting tomorrow morning. lol
can i be your friend? i need some handouts lol.
I hope you guys are getting paid for this advertisement. This post sounds more like an advert, like a script for a tv commercial.
Really? Are you sure? It sounds to me like John Shepard is trying to share some good news with the readers of this website, like a good friend would if they found a good deal.
This part sounds like an infomercial: "Just because you may not have as much money in your wallet these days doesn't mean you should deprive yourself of great entertainment, and you can really make a good haul if you check around this week. These are only a few of the deals at Best Buy and Amazon, too, so make sure you peruse about."
But it worked, I bought Far Cry 2 🙂
At least you walked away from this "infomercial" with a good deal at a great price, and for all your buying needs of automobiles stop by Larry's Used Car Emporium located just south of Yuba on 80! THE DEALS ARE ENDLESS!!!!!!!!
That sir is an infomercial. You have to yell in infomercials like the Sham-Wow ones. IT'S MADE IN GERMANY!!!!!!!
lol. HI EVERYONE BILLY MAYS HERE SHOWING YOU THE F*CKING AWESOMENESS OF THIS NEW PRODUCT! I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS, WHAT IT DOES, OR EVEN WHAT IT'S CALLED, BUT IT IS SO GOOD, IT WILL MAKE YOU ORGASM EVERY TIME YOU USE IT!
Amazon always has amazing deals on video games. You have to be lucky though because they fluctuate like crazy. A game can be $35 one day, $50 the next, and $45 the day after that (Fallout 3). Still, they are often the cheapest even at their most expensive moments.
BestBuy… not so much in my experience.
My friend bought Fallout 3 of of EBay for $0.01. I had to laugh, because if someone is a big enough douche bag to do something like that, they don't deserve to experience the goodness of Fallout 3.
I picked my dualshock up at radio shack after thanksgiving for 19.99 and Call of Duty WAW at target for 39.99 after calling for four straight days at two targets and convincing someone to hold it for me..
I love it when PSX posts things like this. I saved alot of money following leads like this on good PS3 stuff.
Keep up the great work you PSX Guys!
damn Chicko, lay off he is jus giving everybody heads up on some steals. If a friend tells you that the gas station across town has gas for $1.20. Is that advertising?
Geez, I leave a couple of comments and a shitstorm erupts, haha!
As I said – I have no problems with advertising on game sites.
However, if a site is advertising they should disclaimer it as advertising as an act of transparency. It is against the law in some countries when media don't disclose when they are being paid to advertise for another company (in Australia, where I am from, it is anyway). I dont know the laws in the US so maybe it is different there – hence my question (and if someone can answer that would be great).
I wasnt being disrespectful or negative in anyway, shape or form and asked a simple question. Yet people automatically take my comment as me having a go at the site.
I dont think I am the one that needs to chill out.
p.s. I dont want to start a debate about the the legal system in Aus vs US either
p.p.s. JB HI-FI have the cheapest deals on software in australia for all ps3 games. All day, every day, so no need to hurry.
