Many people have been saying it for quite some time already, and we figured it'd only be a matter of time for Sony to add their voice to the mix. According to the Videogaming247 blog, the latest OPM UK edition will release on January 20, and it'll feature the full Killzone 2 review, so Sony tossed in a coinciding statement.
First of all, that OPM UK issue will be mighty special: not only do you get the KZ2 review, you'll also receive a collectible holographic wallet with an image of a Helghast trooper emblazoned on it. That's a nifty little bonus there, and not something you typically find attached to magazines. Editor-in-Chief of the magazine, Tim Clark, said that "Killzone 2 is without a doubt the best looking game on the PlayStation 3," and they "couldn't be happier with the finished results." To spruce up this unveiling even more, UK PR Manager at SCE UK, David Wilson, said:
"Killzone 2 has been a long time in the making, and best showcases why PlayStation 3 is the only console powerful enough to deliver a ground-breaking title of this nature. Who better to partner with than the Official PlayStation Magazine, in order to offer the readers a special collectors edition issue. It's a great way to celebrate the launch of this milestone game."
Yep, there it is: "the only console powerful enough…" It's a bold statement, and one that Microsoft fans are sure to challenge, but it may be the stone cold honest truth. So the celebration is just around the corner, and leaving the system war nonsense behind, we recommend just enjoying this game when it finally launches in the last week of February.

This just states that PS3 is bad ass!
Go Steelers!!
Being from PA, it would've been nice to see the eagles go against the steelers this year, and with the Phillies winning in '08, AND the flyers all doing well, it would've been a blowout year for PA, but oh well – k sry, enough of this off topic nonsense lol.
Anyways, I have been saving up for this game with store credit since I think November and I already got that bad boy preordered, so I am definitely stoked!!

WoopWoop!!!!
but think about it, it's like mgs4, they knew they had all this space so they made it amazing. if it wasn't exclusive, it would have turned out crapper quality to help those 360 owners. same with gt5 and all upcoming exclusives. there gonna be fudging awesome coz we have a better system technologically.
when is your review going to arrive ben ?
Arnold will be reviewing it, and I'm pretty sure he'll have it up immediately after the embargo lifts. February 2 or 3, I believe.
I'm already expecting an 11 out of 10 in the graphics department from Arnold's review if it's going to be anything like the LBP review, haha!
i don't get how people ever questioned her power.
The reason why the power was questioned is because the general public and fanboys judged the PS3 in year 1 of existence. It was an utter joke in year 1, as is the case with almost every single gaming system released. Of course a system will have no games and have no graphics in year 1 of existence. Bashing the PS3 became a fad, a popular thing to do among high school teens. Year 2 has rolled around, and these people are scrambling for cover under their beds. Year 3 is here and Killzone 2 is staring right at the haters.
This is all eeriely similar to 2000-2002 PS2 era, when the Dreamcast "has much better games, better online, better graphics" (just like the 360 now) and was being advertised so heavily with the 9-9-99 tag (just like the 360 is being advertised now). Dreamcast was released a year earlier and the PS2 was being bashed for not being as established as the Dreamcast at the time.
8 years later, and we are laughing at that "competition".

@docpain
You bring up good points. Never thought of it like that. I thought the Dream Cast WAS more advanced though. They just had a disgusting controller!

the dreamcast had alot more potential then people realised.
they just didnt have enough support for it.
i loved my dreamcast and all my games for it.
SHENMUEEEEEE
Of course the PS3 is the only console to handle Killzone 2 and most games for that matter, i did the beta and man it was awesome! Not sure why everyone always questions the power of PS3! This will defently show other developers the benefits of making games for the PS3.
You know what I think some developers is going to use as an excuse, an say well we don't want our games to be focus on quality we want quantity. Some developers is still using that as an excuse to not make games for the ps3, some developers are plain lazy.
And the 2009 line up will prove that statement killzone 2 is just the beginning. If I'm not mistaken didn't they say the PS3 is twice as powerful as xbox360?? If thats true then that means killzone2 will more than max out the 360 if killzone is doing 60% of PS3 power

ahhh.. I know this is gonna be a great game. Though im getting sick of all the shooters im playing.;(
I want an RPG!!!! oh, Valkyria Chorinicles wasn't enough! I need more 😮
I wish I could watch the videos, but for some reason they don't work. firefox i guess
Not Firefox…must be something missing with either your Flash or QuickTime, etc. playback capability, depending on which format you choose.
Hell yeah!
I wonder how God of War III will look…
He definitely said that to get people up in arms, but I'm guessing it's true. I think we will be able to add GOWIII to that list as well. I think as we finally start to see this gen deliver on it's promises the 360 is kind of going to be left in the dust.
the thing about that is believe microsoft is gonna wrap the 360 up and say they "won" the hd console war just to save face
….so this basically states again how Sony was planning the whole Next-gen proof thing right???
Good…I haven't heard David Jaffe say anything about this…- maybe he's just too jealous of MGS 4 to even give a shit about other games. But then again he said GOWIII had…big big potential.
This is as obvious as saying the sky is blue.
not to some fanboys though, they can't tell that the sky ain't blue

The Ps3 is a beast
This is one of the many reasons why I bought a PS3.
Killzone 2 and the full GT5(whose graphics and detail are STILL being polished) will truly show people what the PS3 is capable of. The PS3 hasn't even begun yet.
I hope the full GT5 has some anti-aliasing…that's the only thing that bugs me on Prologue. It would be nice too if those of us who bought Prologue get something special w/ GT5.
There's always been some love payed to us guys who have previous GT data as long as the 2 GTs in question are on the same PS console. So we should see something. I hope we get maybe the B and A license bronzed for free at least, that way guys like us can jump right into the real races like Sunday and Clubman cup. Hopefully more would be nice, but so far all ive heard is rumor and hearsay.
No 360 fan will ever layoff the PS3 each time something better happens "But we have 28 million sold" "PS3 lags" etc: it will only end when the console maker decides to. In the real world PS3 has won, but that will not be accepted for a l-o-n-g time.
ANYONE SEEN THIS?
WTF?!!!!
http://allplaystationnews.blogspot.com/2009/01/maxim-gives-killzone-2-355.html
Wow, Maxim fails.
Yeah, it'll (KZ2) speak for itself when it comes out. 50 cent though? He probably rated those games.
yeah i read that maxim and i was like wtf. What about game informer writting Killzone 2 available for the ps3, 360 and pc, now that's just wrong!
Hence why its on the PS3, thiscompanies stating the obvious no? still i like Blood Siren better, off to play t nowi
Add KZ2 to the growing list of games that aren't possible on other consoles.
Well how many gb does it use up
And sorry to ruin the moment but according to an interview that psu made kz2 does indeed some times run at full power.
Though this might be true,i'd rather prefer it came from a neutral person, like a Peter Moore,Sam Houser or some other multi-plat producer.
Cause a Sony exec would obviously say it's darn good to add much to the hype,y'know,to push sales of ps3 and Killzone 2 itself.

Thats what Im waiting for. Someone in the damn middle willing to drop the hammer on all the speculations and give PS3 the props.
I trust psxextreme to have the best review around.
I will buy this game depending on the review I get here.
I'm not a big FPS fan so yeah.

where im staying now all the xbots around here are really quite all of a sudden lol
i beleive its all owed to KZ2 8)
I'm not surprised at how Killzone 2 looks.I've been following the development of the Cell BE for the past 5 years.
Being a 1st gen. game for GG and running at 60% capacity of the Cell you think games on the PS3 are not going to get any better? This game is a technical marvel and GG and Sony have every right to boast this game.
Funny how 2 other PS3 exclusives coming look stunning as well,Uncharted 2 and GT5.
Killzone has a section where just over 250 light sources are displayed at once, running ingame. That in itself is amazing for it just being a console.Just get credit to where is credit is due.
X360 fanboys should just be happy that a console game is being compaired to a PC like Crysis.PC gamers always say consoles are weak. But here you got K2 comparing Crysis on its highest settings. With the Cell running at 60%.Sony invested alot for its gamer fan base.
"Give credit to where credit is due" Damn edit not working PSX!
LCF a great game is not just made up of good graphic and technical achivment, however I hear that the game also shines glory when it comes to sound and gameplay, as for artistic visual value I seen the vid and it is competent with R2 in a different maner. I also HEAR that they actually have the 05 vid level, intrested how that will be like. Well anyway I am still more excited about the mag concept that one looks like it is going to be fun as hell.
Read closer Im talking tech.Yes Killzone 7.1 sound is impressive as well.I have 7.1 surround system and not many games support it.Uncharted is one of a few games that actually support DTS.
This game is based on warfare.Watching saving private ryan, you see little to no colour.KZ2 was set to be made as a hollywood style movie.
Gears 1 had some of the best multiplayer surround sound.I could judge how close someone was behind me with out even looking. Then they made gears 1.5 and screwed it all up.So yea sound is very important.
PC gamers always say consoles are weak. But here you got K2 comparing Crysis on its highest settings. With the Cell running at 60%
err LCF… have you see Cryss @ max? crysis use HDR.. from what i see from the trailers, KZ2 use more bloom and a few hdr.
the developer is creative, rather than use full HDR lighting that heavy to render, they mix it with bloom.
the dynamic lighting in crysis also great.
the only downside of crysis's engine is it (minimal) need 250USD graphic card to play @ high.
my GF 8600GT stuck @ medium setting in 1280×800 🙁
i can go high but only get 15-20fps (with a bit overclocking)
btw high-end pc gamer resolution usually is 1440×900 or 1680x … (cant remember)
and with FSAA ? 8x? also AA 16x? and with very high res textures.
it really awesome when i go to my friend to play crysis. his pc can run it @ 1440×900 all max with 4xAA with paralax mapping.
Like I stated before, there is no hope for you.
@ orangpelupa: Not to be an arse, but don't talk about technicals if you don't fully understand them. It's an objective topic, and opinion should be reserved for everything else about a game..
@ LCF: I am still surprised as to how good this game looks. The use of deferred rendering is what's interesting, I'd like to learn more about how it was used. For sure the development of this game has been pretty expensive and they were probably willing to use a lot of 'unrecyclable' techniques in polishing the final product. That's one thing you clearly can't get with third party efforts.. but I don't think any credit should go away from Guerilla Games, they appear to have made something special here.
