Why watch countless vids of humans behaving strangely in an office chair? Why not relax on the couch and laugh yourself silly?
Enter YouTube for Television, currently in the beta phase and now available on your PlayStation 3. It's a "streamlined interface that enables you to discover, watch and share YouTube videos on any TV screen through your PS3." All you have to do is open the browser on the console and go to www.youtube.com/tv, and that's it. Bear in mind that this link only works on the PS3; it's not for PC or Mac. As the beta progresses, you may see a few changes; the team is already working on "a more PlayStation-centric version of the YouTube TV Website," so what you see isn't exactly the final product. Considering the popularity of YouTube, this isn't a bad idea. Now, you can browse what the PlayStation Store has to offer, fiddle around with the video delivery service, rent or purchase a movie, set up playlists and arrange photos and other media, and…well, do just about anything you want with your PS3. When you're finally done and your friend calls you up saying you just have to see this new YouTube vid, you don't have to adjourn to the PC. Nope, just open up the PS3 browser and watch it in full screen!
So that's another little addition to the PS3's repertoire, which continues to grow at a fairly steady rate. Sony always said they want it to be a complete media center for the user, and they're definitely closing in on that goal.
1st!! just to let yous tat the amount of retard on youtube that kept doing this are unreal…
What you just said phonetically and grammatically doesn't make the least bit of sense…who's the retard now…?
What did he say????? Just say No!
Yeah and being "1st" isn't a big deal around here.
…Must have been typing to fast to keep his spot on the comments list to realize that he wasnt speaking any english.
Eyes is believe that you be frist and tat u ar suber coole.
Cheng….
The name explains everything.
IT IS ABOUT TIME…
I was wondering when Sony would start doing this… to be honest I was hoping that the XMB would be rife with Widgets that represented ones favourite channels. For example; "LiveStation" permits you to download a great interface from where you can select live TV streams for free… such as BBC World, CNN etc etc… we should have all this from the XMB… I would use my PS3 even more…
Why are Sony soooooo slow to get things on the XMB… like Skype etc…
Q!

skype! great idea, better then the voice chat stuff, cuz that restricts you to only the ps3 users and i've already got a ps eye, but i dont do a lot with i considering im too shy to talk online
A PS3-centric Youtube interface is kind of neat, I guess, but it's not anything remarkable considering that normal Youtube works just fine in the PS3 browser…
What I really want to see is Hulu for PS3, since I can't get their videos to display fullscreen in the PS3 browser.
IMDB.com has a new video service that allows you to watch movies and tv shows for free. It pulls videos from other sites, including hulu. As a matter of fact I am watching Whats Happening Now full screen as I am writing this.
I tried it last night for a few minutes to me its easier to navigate through all my videos I stored in my favorites, I like how the setup looks even though its the beta, I was waiting for a fullscreen feature on youtube makes me feel like I'm watching a movie
OFF TOPIC BUT IMPORTANT!…

SWBF3 footage?! watch that in full screen haha (L)
have free radical actually gone bankrupt?
meh stuff in full screen is still in poor resolution, whats the point?
It's bigger….
Not necessarily better though!

All I want is to be able to record games and then be able to upload them to youtube.
This may be the first step towards that :/
At least I hope so.
why?
that would be soooooooooooooooooooooooooo cool. record and upload. man, imagine catching some sick moments in games, or sick combos. or whatever.
some games do that, i know for a fact that pixel junk eden has the feature to record game footage and upload it too youtube
The problem with this for me is that I use the same monitor for PS3 and PC :]
Maybe the Playstation-centric site will have better quality? Oh well, I'll check it out some time.
I like commenting on youtube but you can't.
Yeah, you strike me as a youtube commenter…
-Arvis
lol is that an insult
Give me Netflix. I've been using the PlayOn program and it works fine, but give me a break Sony lets make this stuff native.
i've used youtube on the browser and there are few problems so to see how they enhance that with this will be nice. it is gonna be a typical, you don't NEED it, but it is just so good and you can be lazy, lazier.
Youtube already worked and it could be full screen. this prob make it easier.
hey ben. I read yesterday that it's for ps3 AND wii.
yeah it is for both
Wii? I didn't know that had an internet browser?
Yeah they do, and some ways better than ps3 but the whole controller thing is not my cup of tea.
It is definitely better than going to the regular site. Its easier to use and I'm loving the full screen. The quality ain't great but it is being watched on on a gaming machine.
Good idea but I hope they didn't pay much for this. Maybe it will get them a separate Advertising revenue?
This sounds great but if I can already go to youtube.com on my PS3 and just simply click on the link on the bottom right corner of the video to watch it in full screen then what difference does this new service make?

great news for PS3 users
CIRCUIT CITY IS CLOSING! BIG SALE STARTS TOMORROW!
yeah, but they suck, probably only reduce the games like 5 bucks.
Most of their products are marked down 10% but the movies and some of the others are marked down 20% or more.
PlayStation-centric sounds good but I'm not into browsing around YouTube looking for anything to watch. If a YouTube icon was added to the XMB and it was for solely watching streamed game trailers, that I like.
so can we record videos from our ps3 and add them to youtube yet? i thought that was gonna be a feature to.
Personally, I find it much easier to find Youtube videos using Google rather than the Youtube interface, but whatever.

just tried it (for 20 seconds (ps3 is standing somewhat next to me)) and it works great, everything fits nicely on my tiny low def screen and its way more practical indeed,
havent taken the time whether the glitch is gone like if you want to play a youtube film on ur ps3 it sometimes stops for a few seconds and then carries on, AND NO COMMENTS, that really is a turnoff
but i hope the next time i can check my (hot)mail on my ps3, cuz i cant this far, (anyone's got a solution?)
dude… finnaly!
