It's one of the lesser-known PlayStation 3 exclusives scheduled for this year, but it's still one of the more promising.
Tecmo is developing Quantum Theory , and although the studio responsible isn't Team Ninja, the anticipated shooter still uses technology found in Ninja Gaiden Sigma . According to PS3Fanboy, Tecmo's Keisuke Kikuchi explained the situation to Gamasutra, and it seems that just because Team Ninja isn't directly involved…well, Tecmo is still Tecmo. Said Kikuchi:
"Team Ninja has already put out a game, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, on the PS3, and internally we've already shared the knowledge, and the know-how, and we're very aware of the technological challenges that they had. So, in a way, we have already been exposed to that."
It can be very helpful if a team utilizes a pre-established tech for the foundation of a new game, especially one that has been proven in a blockbuster, top-quality title. At the same time, Kikuchi said the team still plans to expand on the engine and he believes they can "push it to the next level with Quantum Theory ." It's just a very big bonus to have a "team, internally, that has already worked on a PS3 title." We still haven't seen any actual gameplay footage of the game, but Tecmo has always been very proficient when it comes to producing seriously slick visuals. The only question that remains is whether or not they can make an awesome next-gen shooter… We have high hopes!

at least this shooter has a chick that does not look like a dude which is something many of todays shooter lack , i mean shooters are intended for male audience but yet almost none of them have u know somin somin, its like there trying to make us go happy
i hope this game is good and not another HAZE
noone wants another haze. no one.
To be honest with myself I will most likely not buy this game unless it gets stunning reviews. I am currently swimming in an ocean of shooting games; I no longer feel as much excitement at the news of a new one, even a promising one. It is saddening for me when I don't feel as happy about news as I think I should be. 🙁
Was Ninja Gaiden Sigma good? I missed it.
Seemed good, the demo was anyway. Graphics were very slick!
Q!
"i Am HoMe"
I enjoyed it, it was a great hack and slash game. The combos were fluid and fun to execute.
Sigma was awesome, got the game. great game. hard. but great.
Sigma was a remake of the original ninja gaiden made for the xbox. Great game. If u didn't get a chance to play it on the original xbox, then I highly recommend buying Sigma for $30. It's a Greatest Hits title.
I've got Ninja Gaiden Black on xbox, was it like that?
Yeah, just a remake in HD graphics, added weapon double-sword, some new enemies, and downloadable packs already packaged.
Only recommended if somehow the orginal was missed or if one is really hardcore about Ninja Gaiden, in which case you wouldn't really need a recommendation.
Yeah Sigma is a good game; hard too. It's a greatest hits title too; so you can get it for $30.
Cool, if I ever run out of things to play I'll grab it.
I liked the demo but I beat the xbox version. It is waay nicer though.
So this is Sony's answer to Gears of War. I not too sure yet. I am currently in the "wait and see mode" for this one.
I certainly hope that isn't what they are trying to play it off as. I am just expecting an awesome 3rd person shooter.
No, this is Tecmo trying something new…a "western" game.
Sony does not pay for exclusives therefore they didn't pay for this which goes to show this can't be "SONY's answer to Gears" because Sony isn't developing it.
I know you didn't mean to, but it's when people in blogs & forums say "Oh this is a *insert 360 game* killer" the entire gaming media will eventually follow and when it does not live up to everyone's expectations they say "I thought Sony said this is a *insert 360 game* killer, so they lied to us." when it is actually the media that led majority to believe that Sony said something they did not.
And on a side note I'm not buying this game, it looks too much like Gears 2 in style and it's an exclusive to PS3 from Tecmo which to me is just saying "We've practically ignored you this generation so now were giving you this game where we don't deem you worthy of some new IP with an original style or creative look and give you our own take on a game already made."
This title looks like it has potential providing they dont copy gears in anyway cos i can hear the 360 fanboys chirpin already
From what i have seen the artstyle of the game looks like gears but one thing 4sure its not going to play like gears. This game is going to have japanese flair & flaws. Since this game is being made by people who have worked on NinjaGaiden i am sure its going to be long, have a lot of varying enemies, use fast shooting & fast fighting as core gameplay. The game seems to set in a fantasy setting which makes it fundamentaly different to gears.
I'm on the fence with this game I dont know if I like the idea of a living tower as the enemy i'll wait for reviews

if it's anything like sigma, great. coz sigma was awesome.
EDIT just read it's a shooter, and ninja gaiden was a shooter, although the AI were the shooters, but it could be crazy like that, so you know, it could be bloody awesome.

This is great news. Sigma's graphics are very good and if Tecmo is gonna improve of that and throw it into a 3rd person shooter…great things can happen with this game. I hope Tecmo talks to Cliffy B. or something so they can make this shooter feel like a shooter.
I wasn't expecting the game to be released this but if Tecmo can do it then…
Damn Tecmo is going cheap with rehashing a old engine.I have sigma and the only thing going for that engine is that it runs at 60fps.that being said the textures are bland. It's an old engine.
I'm thinking Tecmo just dont have the money to put into R&D and build a engine from the ground up for the PS3.
lol…maybe they'll fix the textures problems…maybe
Though I concur that it was a while ago, Ninja Gaiden Sigma not only ran at 60fps, but at 1080p (actually a custom resolution close to that) with a free-roaming camera, dynamic lighting and shadows. Even Ninja Gaiden 2 only ran at a resolution less than 700 (with smaller levels due to dvd9, and a noticably less smooth animation). So, any game that matches that feat will run simpler textures at the cost of that. But even then, some of the textures still hold up very well. To me, it still has some of the crispest visuals in this generation.
