Sadly, the original arrived when developers still didn't understand the complex architecture of the PlayStation 3, which is why PS3 owners got a very poor version of F.E.A.R. However, from everything we've heard, Monolith won't let that happen this time around.
And to help prove it, a playable demo is on the way to both the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace, and both versions should be mostly identical. According to Strategy Informer, Warner Bros. has confirmed that the F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin demo should drop towards the end of this month, although they didn't divulge a specific date. However, if you've downloaded the latest Qore episode, you will see that it's scheduled for the PSN for January 15, which is this coming Thursday. That would make sense, but we haven't bean able to confirm that date just yet. Either way, we're excited to get a chance to see this highly anticipated sequel, as the original was a well-received atmospheric FPS (on the 360 and PC, anyway), and Monolith has revealed that this will be a direct sequel. They're not counting any of the expansions the PC version may have had; they've made it clear that F.E.A.R. 2 picks up where the original F.E.A.R. left off. So perhaps now is a good time to pick up the first game at a budget price if you didn't get a chance to play it.
While it's certainly true that the FPS genre is one of the most competitive in the industry, something like F.E.A.R. can do very well because it features an interesting implementation of a survival/horror feel. So if you like freaky, scary games and you like the fast-paced intensity of the FPS, than this one should be right up your alley.

Awesome love FEAR2>)
Lucky you Guys over there with Qore, though recently announced Official Playstation Magazine UK are bringing out the equivalent for Us called OPMHD 🙂
My biggest complaint about the first was that everywhere felt too samey. Every room looked like the one I just left.
Might actually pick up the first if it's cheap cuz I'm very forgiving when it comes to glitches, as long as they don't interfere too much.
The first one was a great shooter though a tad bit short. Really looking forward to the next installment. Though I still never understood how people said the first was a little on the scary side. It never affected me that way. Guess I'm too used to Silent Hill and Fatal Frame lol.
Man, I loved Fatal Frame! That game scared the beegeezuz outta me!!
Here's hoping I have another reason to stay up until 1am again – the start time for any really scarey game 🙂
i love FEAR, it's 1ne of my faves. and i have them all for my PC. this 2nd one i'll get it for my PS3.
fear was one of the outright shittiest games ever made.
It was the most generic shooter that could ever have possibly been created.
It wasn't even scary.
I don't understand how so many people like it. It's the gaming equivalent of Nyquil.
Looks like Killzone 2 might have some competition. I curious to see if they will actually bring a decent running game this time.
Some of you will think I would be the last person to say this, but no. I don't think Killzone 2 has a thing to worry about.
Brand recognition is important, and lots of people out there are unlikely to be swayed no matter how good it turns out to be. And honestly, I don't expect it to be all that good.
Still, better than Haze and Fracture, we'd hope.
What is this?!!? You mean there's news about other games BESIDES Killzone 2?
MADNESS! MADNESS, I TELL YOU!!! 😀
I hear you, Troy.
I'm trying to finish off R2 before K2 hits.
And I'm afraid if K2 is as good as they say that I'll be too busy lying in a pool of my own virtual blood (from you 'mercin' us) that I'll miss RE5.
Where's my hype for RE5, Ben?
read an interesting preview in play. i'll make a note.
Lets do this PSN. A F.E.A.R. 2 Demo would be CAPITAL!!!!
I have F.E.A.R for the PC and loved it. I'll be picking up F.E.A.R. 2 at some point, though for PC. Just one of those games I must get on PC.
