Xfire and the upcoming PS3 launch title, Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom , have had a mysterious relationship over the past few months, as neither parties would ever fully disclose the details. Well, at least we now what role Xfire plays, now.
If you plan to play the game online, it appears you'll certainly need to utilize the PlayStation Network in order to make it happen. Prior to this knowledge, we were wondering the game's online co-op feature would use Sony's proprietary online service in conjuction with Xfire software, or if Xfire would take care of everything on its own.
Basically, Xfire is just a bonus addition to the existing Network setup, and will allow player to create friends lists independent of any pre-set Sony-made buddy lists. We won't know exactly how well everything will work until we lay our hands on it, but at least we've finally got the baseline information regarding the mechanics.
