Everybody wants to hear more about the next Metal Gear , but perhaps you've forgotten about that Metal Gear Solid movie that continues to be on the radar for most gamers and industry journalists. It was just a rumor, but it appears the film is indeed on the way.
Movie-based website Collider caught up with Hideo Kojima at the Video Game Awards last night, and we you can see the full interview here. Kojima remains one of the greatest minds in gaming, and to have him lending his considerable ability and weight to a major motion picture based on his legendary series is most appealing. Collider wanted to know the role Kojima would be playing in the production of the film, and while Kojima himself won't be directing (makes sense), he most certainly will be a major part of the proceedings. And while he said things are moving along very slowly right now, we expect to see more progress made in 2009, and we're really hoping that Kojima has his hand in just about every facet of the movie's development. This is one time where the movie absolutely cannot fail the fans, and that's just because this is one of the most revered and beloved franchises in video game history, so they just can't mess up this game-to-movie conversion.
So, how does this news strike you? Even if Hollywood wanted to wreck another video game in its adaptation to the big screen, do you think that Kojima's presence will halt the flow of stupidity? He's a renowned perfectionist, so he'd never let a piece of junk ruin the good name of MGS. Also, what do you think of the idea of a game based on the movie? Damn, that'd be a game based on a movie based on a game… Freaky.
