Killzone 2 Isn’t Just A “Gray Wasteland”

We've promised you that Killzone 2 will be a next-gen revelation of epic proportions, but some are still wondering: "hey…is there any environment in that game that doesn't appear black or gray?" Guerilla's answer to this is a resounding, "yes."

Perhaps you may have missed the Killzone 2 preview in the August issue of EGM – as PSU pointed out recently – that clearly said players can expect the game to highlight "the natural beauty" of Helghan. We probably won't get any majestic "Lord of the Rings" scenery, but don't think the entire game takes place in dark, busted-up alleys. The trailers and previews may have been misleading in this respect, and Guerilla's QA Manager Seb Downie just clarified again in the official PlayStation forums: "[Helghan] is not just gray urban wasteland." The naysayers have always had the same common refrain over the past few months; in that environmental diversity isn't exactly a strong point of the game. However, that most certainly isn't true, although we imagine many of the more intense moments – like those seen in the aforementioned trailers – will take place in darker, more intimidating areas. It's just not the entirety of the experience, that's all.

Remember, we'll be handing out our special impressions (first via newsletter) this week, so stay tuned for the unveiling. We have a lot to tell you about, and it certainly goes above and beyond the beta testing!
