MGO Hits 1 Million Subscribers

It launched in June but it didn't take long for it to become uber-popular amongst the hardcore MGS fans: according to GameTactics, Konami has announced that there are now over 1 million MGO members! To celebrate this plateau, Konami will begin a "special campaign" on November 25, which will give gamers bonus reward points when they log in to the game.

This campaign will be called the "Metal Gear Online: Commemorative Campaign," and members can nab a whole lot of reward points between November 25 and December 9. These points can the be used to purchase all sorts of cool goodies from the online shop, and with the 10,000 point bonus you receive, you can get all kinds of stuff! But it doesn't end there: anyone who accesses MGO during the Commemorative Campaign period will automatically have a chance of winning an even bigger prize. Ten MGO-ers in each major region (North America, Europe and Japan) will receive 100,000 reward points, and that massive point total will be handed out on December 16. How's that for a reward haul? Of course, with a million registered users worldwide, your chances aren't good, but who cares? All you gotta do is sign in to qualify, and besides, you'll want those automatic 10,000 points, too.

Lastly, Konami will release a special GENE and MEME expansion bundle pack some time this holiday season for the price of $14.99. When we can gather in some more details on this expansion, we'll be sure to let you know about it. In the meantime, it seems that Metal Gear Online is indeed a rip-roaring success.
