Bioshock 2 May Not Be Released Simultaneously On PS3, 360, PC?

When PlayStation 3 owners learned Microsoft had bought timed exclusivity for Bioshock , they were none too happy about the deal. We had to wait almost a whole year, and while the PS3 version was fantastic as expected , we really don't want the same deal for Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams .

The teaser trailer gets unlocked upon completing Bioshock on the PS3, and there's little doubt in anyone's mind that it will come to the PS3, 360, and PC. 2K confirmed this assumption with GameSpot, but as Destructoid points out, the quote in question could be interpreted as worrisome. When asked, a 2K representative replied, "BioShock 2 is destined for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC platforms." Er…if you read that in a certain way, it doesn't necessarily imply that the sequel will come to all three platforms simultaneously. Microsoft couldn't possibly shell out the cash for another timed exclusivity deal, could they? And would 2K even bother, considering the PS3 has now come into its own? Before, the user base was low and it made sense to take Microsoft's wad of cash and produce the game for the PS3 at a later date. But when Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams is ready, the PS3 and 360 will be locked in their epic struggle…no publisher in their right mind would sacrifice sales on one platform, right?

The third-party exclusive is dying – if it isn't dead already – but money talks. We're just hoping that people are reading too much into that quote, and the sequel will enjoy a simultaneous release on all three platforms in question. Oh, and 2K said we can expect a new trailer for the game, too, and it is coming to both the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Marketplace.
