Those who have spent enough time with the SOCOM: Confrontation beta have plenty of praise for the multiplayer-oriented shooter, but there have been several technical problems along the way. Recently, the team released several patches to address the freezing, crashing, and other server issues beta testers have experienced, and now, one last one is on the way.
It's patch 1.50, and here's good news: according to the official site , they're extending the beta test so Sony has "ample time to test" the patch. Now, the test will last until midnight on Thursday, October 9, and they plan to release more details on 1.50 very soon. For now, we just have to assume it's another reliability/stability-related update to allow the game to run smoother, and with fewer crippling problems. Of course, some of you may be wondering if this added testing time will push the launch date back, but Sony says the previously announced October 14 date is still correct, at least so far as North America is concerned. If you have been playing the beta, you may have had several complaints about your experience, and if you spoke up, it's very likely that SCEA heard those words. Besides, the team responsible is supposed to make the game as glitch-free as humanly possible for the launch, so they're keeping a pretty close eye on things.
If you've got some feedback, though, feel free to tell us all about it in the Comments below. Hopefully, patch 1.50 will take care of any lingering issues, and we'll have a clear runway for the SOCOM: Confrontation release on October 14. Big month for games, no?
