We at PSXE will freely admit that Heavy Rain is near the top of our "most anticipated" list, and there are several reasons why it sits so prominently on our ever-sweeping radar screens: it's something new . We're big fans of originality, and from what we've heard regarding Quantic Dream's project, we have to be intrigued.
How will this game potentially revise our thinking in terms of video games? Well, according to Quantic's David Cage, there is one very interesting aspect that will cause some avid gamers to scratch their heads and frown: if the main character is killed, the game doesn't end. You just keep playing. During a special presentation of the game, Cage mentioned this, and his words have traveled throughout the Internet like wildfire.
"I can't really tell you too much about what the story's about or how it's going to work with the characters, all I can tell you that your character – the main character – can die, and the story will continue. You can continue to play, without this character, of course." (source: Videogaming247 blog)
Cage was then asked if the story would branch off after the main character dies, but Cage simply said, "No, no. It's one big story." Like most of you out there, we're still a trifle concerned that the gameplay won't be engaging enough (similar to the drawback found in Indigo Prophecy ), but given story information like this, we're starting to wonder if we'll even care . Okay, we'll care, but obviously, Heavy Rain will be very story-oriented, and that's just fine by us. We can't wait to hear more!
