After the comparison charts for the next-gen consoles were revealed, everyone noticed a few inconsistencies. One of the most prominent was Sony's claim that Wii's online service would only be free for the first six months, while Nintendo claimed it was free…well, forever and ever.
But after Total Video Games contacted a Nintendo representative, it seems the Big N was in the right. The spokesman for the company confirmed the Will will indeed be free to play online, just like the DS.
Sony distributed the console comparison charts at last week's Gamer's Day, thus prompting the confusion. Another mistake on these charts was the statement that the Xbox 360 required an external HD-DVD drive for play, when in fact, the device is optional.
Chances are, though, the miscommunication for Wii's online probably involved the Opera Web Browser, which will indeed be free for only the first six months. Well, either way: mistake clarified.
