Level 5 gave all new PlayStation 3 owners and RPG fans hope several years back when they unveiled their PS3 exclusive title, White Knight Story . But then it suffered several heavy delays, and throughout most of 2008, all news on the Level 5 front has essentially disappeared. Since the early days when this project was announced, the name has changed – it's White Knight Chronicles now – and everyone has started to worry.
Well, as small and perhaps insignificant as this tiny piece of information is, we'll cling to it like Titanic survivors to a freezing plank of wood. As many Japanese sources are saying, the official site for the game now boasts the encouraging words, "The Days of Awakening are Coming Soon." This goes in line with Sony's insistence that the promising RPG will launch during the current fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2009. However, even that prediction seems out of whack, simply because we've really had nothing in the way of updates or new information over the past few months. If a game was reaching the end of its production phase, shouldn't we know more about it by now? And why didn't it come to E3 or Leipzig? Dare we hope it shows up at this year's Tokyo Game Show? You know, the only video we have of the game (which actually featured gameplay) came from last year's TGS, as did the screenshot pictured here.
We know many PS3 owners out there are desperately awaiting news of a stellar exclusive RPG like White Knight Chronicles , and "Awakening Soon" – while not gigantic – is indeed a new addition and in fact, a glimmer of hope. They showed it at TGS 2007…so we now want to see it at TGS 2008. With a release date, please!
